No river, no interstate, so all of it leaves by truck
The federal mine register records 11 employees at the Central Stone CS-75 plant, a surface limestone operation. The haul radius filed against it is 35 miles, from freight cost per ton, flagged as an estimate.
McDonough County has no navigable water and no interstate. So every ton the Central Stone plant produces leaves on a truck, and the local truck ring around an eleven-person operation is larger, relative to its size, than it would be at a river quarry.

A small plant with a big ring around it
That ratio is the useful part. Eleven people on a mine record is a small operation, but with no water and no interstate to take any of it away, the number of truck movements is set by what the plant makes rather than by what the network can absorb.
So the driving is two-lane and repetitive. Inside the 35 miles freight cost allows, a truck out of the Central Stone plant runs the same county and state routes over and over, loaded one way and empty back.
Loaded out, empty home, all day. It is the loaded half that does the wearing.
Whatever you drive, the offer doesn’t change
So dump trucks and aggregate haulers are the ordinary shape around the Central Stone plant, with farm trucks and grain hauls on the same two-lane routes inside the 35 miles. That is a read off the mine record and the county’s geography, not a preference of ours. We buy all of them.

What the state lets a truck carry
Those loads all run under one set of numbers, and with no interstate they run on it everywhere. Illinois statute 625 ILCS 5/15-111 sets 80,000 pounds gross for five or more axles, 20,000 pounds on a single axle and 34,000 pounds on a tandem, with no axle inside that tandem over 20,000 pounds, and a formula for consecutive axle groups that varies with spacing.
Local authorities and cities over 50,000 people may set their own weight limits by ordinance, but the same statute stops them exceeding the state maximums. So an Illinois local limit can only ever be lower than the state figure, never higher — which is something to check before you plan a route on the state number alone.
That section carries no seasonal frost provisions and no harvest or agricultural exemptions. That is scoped to that section of the statute and is not a claim that Illinois has no seasonal restriction anywhere, which we did not check.
