Sand pits and stone quarries ringing Arab
Guntersville Sand, an industrial-mineral mine on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, lies about 6 miles south-east of Arab. If your dump truck or tractor has hauled sand out of that pit, tell us so when you reach out, and send pictures of the bed, the cab and the tires alongside the VIN.
Two crushed-stone quarries round out the close ring: C A Langford Co Inc about 7.5 miles east and Gum Pond Quarry about 8.7 miles west, both recorded by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A truck that is parked at a quarry yard rather than at your house can be collected right there; give us the gate address and the name of whoever holds the key.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places Tremendous Pit, a dimension-stone quarry, around 21 miles south of town. If your truck spends its week down that road, have the title and current registration in hand before we schedule anything, since those two papers settle most of what we ask.
Freight, machinery, farm supplies and lumber out of Arab
Arab is home to 152 active motor carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census. In that census, 44 list general freight, 36 list machinery and large objects, 32 list farm supplies and 24 list logs, poles, beams and lumber. Whichever of those your truck pulled, say which trailer it worked with and include a photo of the hitch.
Most of these outfits stay inside Alabama: the same federal census lists 132 intrastate carriers against 20 interstate ones, and 97 run as private fleets carrying their own goods. If yours is a company truck from a private fleet, have whoever signs for the business ready to sign the title too.
Registrations have kept arriving, too. FMCSA’s census shows 3 new carriers in 2024 and 5 in 2025. A new operator selling a truck bought only a year or two ago should keep the purchase paperwork and the lien release, if there was a loan, together with the title.
Across 71 Arab trucks inspected at the roadside between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year at 2016, with 53.5 percent ten or more years old. We buy across that whole span, so list the year, make and model exactly as the title shows them.
Mileage reported to FMCSA by 20 Arab carriers puts the typical truck here at a median of 26,250 miles a year. Put the current odometer reading in your first message, along with any service records you keep, and we will work from those.
Driver counts filed with FMCSA show 227 drivers working within 100 miles of home and 134 going beyond it. A truck that comes back to Arab every evening is usually parked in town; one on longer runs may be sitting somewhere else, so tell us where it will be on the day.
Clearing a whole Arab fleet lot at once
The biggest fleet registered in Arab, per the FMCSA census, runs 63 power units with 52 drivers; the next two run 25 units with 19 drivers and 18 units with 27. If you are clearing more than one truck from a lot that size, send a list of VINs and we can look at all of them in one go.
For a multi-truck sale, pull each title out ahead of time and check that the company name on it matches the business you are signing for. Photos of every unit, taken in the same yard, make it simple for us to match each truck to its paperwork.
Factory jobs, cattle farms and Arab’s building trade
Of the 3,911 people working in Arab in 2023, 788 held manufacturing jobs, a 20.1 percent slice on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks and tractors that shuttle between plants and suppliers fit squarely within what we purchase; note the body type and its length when you write.
On the same LEHD figures, wholesale trade accounts for 134 jobs, transportation and warehousing 107 and construction 66. County Business Patterns, also from the Census Bureau, lists 27 construction establishments in Arab. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from building work are welcome; show the body and any equipment mounted on it in the photos.
Marshall County has 1,324 farms, led by cattle, soybeans and corn, according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A grain truck or livestock hauler parked out on a farm road can be picked up where it sits, provided the lane is passable for our truck.
Further afield
The river port and Redstone Arsenal
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists a port at Guntersville, around 13.8 miles east of Arab. If your truck has hauled to or from the waterfront there, mention that route and attach the registration with your photos.
Redstone Arsenal, a military installation on the same BTS list, sits about 22.6 miles north-west of town. If your truck hauls toward the arsenal, we can collect it in Arab or at any other address where it is parked.
