P & R, Sardine and the Harrison pit
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists P & R Mining, a sand and gravel operation, 2.5 miles west of Atmore, and the SARDINE pit 5.2 miles to the east. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that shuttles between those two pits is often parked at one of them between loads. Tell us which pit gate it sits behind and who holds the key, and we will arrange collection there rather than ask you to move it.
Harrison Mine, an industrial-mineral site, lies 6 miles south-west of town in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and Turkey Trot, another industrial-mineral mine, is 24.8 miles north. If your truck hauled from Turkey Trot and is still parked up there, say so in your first message so the pickup is planned for that site. Have the title and current registration in the cab or with you when we arrive.
Atmore’s own registered haulers
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 156 active carriers based in Atmore, with 90 running intrastate only and 66 authorised for interstate work. A truck that has stayed inside Alabama its whole life is just as welcome as one with interstate authority; what we need is the title in your name and the VIN.
Private fleets account for 69 of those carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, meaning companies hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. If the truck belongs to a business, have a signed authorisation from the owner of record ready, along with any service records the shop kept.
Eleven new carriers registered in Atmore in 2025 and eight in 2024, according to the same FMCSA census. If you started out recently and bought a single tractor, send the bill of sale with the title so the ownership chain is clear from your first message.
Grain, timber, machinery and general freight
General freight is listed by 78 Atmore carriers in FMCSA’s census, grain, feed and hay by 45, machinery and large objects by 44, and logs, poles, beams and lumber by 37. That covers dry vans, hopper and grain trailers, lowboys and log trailers, and we take the tractor whether or not the trailer comes with it.
A log truck or a lowboy tractor is often kept at a job site or a farm lot rather than a yard in town. Give us the address, a photo of the door plate showing the VIN, and photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel, so what we see before collection matches what is there.
Field trucks on Escambia County farmland
Escambia County’s 326 farms grow cotton and corn and raise cattle above all else, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Grain trucks, cattle haulers and module trucks parked in a barn or a field edge can be collected where they stand; tell us whether the ground is firm enough to reach them.
Farm-plated trucks still need a clear title for us to buy them. If the title has gone missing, request a duplicate from Alabama’s title agency before the pickup date, and keep the registration card with it.
Build years and yearly mileage on Atmore rigs
Between September 2024 and August 2026, roadside checks of 106 Atmore-based trucks put the median build at 2015 and 52.8 percent at ten years old or more, according to FMCSA roadside inspection records. Whatever the model year of yours, the steps are the same: title, registration, VIN and a set of photos.
For the 40 Atmore carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median works out to 14,740 miles per truck each year. Read the odometer before you contact us and include it with the VIN; those two figures start every conversation we have about a truck.
The bigger local operators in the federal census run 43, 26 and 15 power units. If you are selling several units from a fleet that size, list each VIN with its title status and the lot where it is parked, and we will plan the collections together.
Rail yard, bridges and roads out of town
The Flomaton rail yard sits about 14.8 miles south-east of Atmore on the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that has pulled loads to or from that yard can be picked up in Flomaton if that is where it now sits.
Four of Atmore’s 29 bridges have posted weight limits and not one sits below 14 feet of clearance, the National Bridge Inventory shows. Tell us which road the truck is on so the collection route avoids any posted crossing.
Heading 23.9 miles east toward Brewton, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the NOLF Brewton military installation. If you work out that way and the truck is parked near Brewton, we can collect it there while you handle the paperwork from home.
The questions we get asked in Atmore
- Is a pulpwood log tractor or a lowboy rig from around Atmore something you take?Thirty-seven Atmore carriers list logs, poles, beams and lumber in FMCSA’s census, and 44 list machinery and large objects, so those tractors are part of what we buy here. A VIN, the odometer figure and a few photos of an Atmore log or lowboy tractor are enough for us to begin.
- My cotton or cattle truck is parked out on an Escambia County farm. Will the pickup come out to that field?Escambia County has 326 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and many trucks here are kept on them. Tell us how to reach the truck and whether the ground is firm, and bring the title and registration.
