Alabama-only registrations and own-goods haulers in Attalla
Of the 129 active Attalla carriers in FMCSA’s census, 107 hold intrastate-only registrations while 22 run interstate. If your truck has stayed inside Alabama, keep the Alabama registration and title together and mention both when you call.
Private fleets make up 66 of those 129 Attalla carriers in the federal census, meaning businesses hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. A contractor or farm selling a tractor that served its own operation should send the VIN, a few photos of the cab and frame, and the name on the title.
Ten new carriers registered in Attalla during 2025 and five during 2024, according to FMCSA. If your authority is recent and the truck is titled to the company, have the paperwork showing who can sign for that company ready when we arrange collection.
Machinery, car haulers and general freight
General freight is the cargo most often listed by Attalla carriers, at 43, while motor vehicles follow at 28 on the same FMCSA census. A car-hauler tractor should come with photos of the headache rack and the deck if the trailer is part of the sale.
On FMCSA’s census, 25 carriers here list machinery and large objects as cargo. Photograph a lowboy or step-deck from both sides, and keep the trailer’s own registration apart from the tractor’s.
Grain, feed and hay appear on 23 local carrier filings, and Etowah County holds 725 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, corn and cotton leading. A hay truck kept at a farm outside town can stay right where it sits; give us the road and a gate contact.
Stone, cement and the rail yard
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Glencoe Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, 10.5 miles east of Attalla, and Ashville Rock Quarry 14.5 miles south-west. Dump trucks working those pits are often parked at the quarry or a contractor’s yard, so tell us which site and whether a pass is needed to get in.
Farther out, National Cement Company’s plant and the Ragland industrial-mineral mine are both 16.8 miles south in the MSHA listings, and the Coosa Plant sand and gravel operation is 16.6 miles east. Bulk and mixer trucks from that ground can be collected on site once the owner confirms the location.
Alabama City, a rail yard on the North American Rail Network, lies 4.1 miles north-east, and RJ Corman’s liquid bulk terminal is 10.6 miles east in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. A tanker tractor that has pulled from that terminal should come with its title and any inspection reports you still hold.
Driver radius and yearly mileage in Attalla
Attalla carriers report 374 drivers working within 100 miles and 274 going beyond that, per FMCSA. Many local trucks therefore sleep at home most nights, which makes a driveway or shop lot in town the usual collection point.
A median of 26,812 miles per truck each year turns up among the 23 Attalla carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA. Write down the odometer reading when you photograph the dash, since it is one of the first figures we ask for.
One fleet in Attalla runs 136 power units with 141 drivers on the federal census, and the next two run 13 and 8. Owners with several units to sell can send one list of VINs rather than calling about each truck.
What roadside checks show
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA cover 194 Attalla trucks between September 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2021 and 13.4% of them ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, send the model year and engine details with the VIN.
Within the area the National Bridge Inventory counts 29 bridges, one carries a posted load limit, and none sits under 14 feet. Tell us about any weight-posted route near the truck so the pickup vehicle is routed with it in mind.
Local employment stands at 2,707 jobs in the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts for 2023, of which 260 are in transportation and warehousing, 195 in wholesale trade and 164 in manufacturing. County Business Patterns lists 12 construction establishments, so a work truck from a builder’s yard is a common call here.
