Intrastate haulers and private fleets in north Baldwin
Of the 139 active carriers that FMCSA’s census places in Bay Minette, 107 keep their loads inside Alabama and only 32 hold interstate authority. A truck that has stayed inside Alabama is usually parked at a yard or a driveway in town, so give us that street address when you first get in touch and we plan the collection from there.
Seventy-seven of those Bay Minette registrations, the same FMCSA census shows, belong to private fleets that carry a firm’s own materials instead of other people’s freight. If your tractor or straight truck belonged to a business that moved its own materials, have the title in the business name ready, along with a note of who at the company can sign for it.
New registrations keep arriving: the carrier census shows 9 new carriers in 2025 and 8 in 2024. If you started an operation in the last couple of years and are now selling the truck you bought for it, the registration and the title you received at purchase are the two papers we ask for first.
Machinery, lumber and farm supplies on Baldwin County roads
General freight leads the cargo listings, with 56 carriers declaring it in FMCSA’s census, followed by machinery and large objects at 33. Lowboys, step-decks and the tractors that pull them fall squarely into what we buy, so send photos of the trailer deck and the tractor together if you are selling both.
Logs, poles, beams and lumber appear on 23 carrier registrations here, per the FMCSA carrier census, and farm supplies on 25. Log trucks and flatbeds often sit at a wood yard or a farm gate rather than in town; tell us the nearest road and whether a tractor can reach the truck without a gate key.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 853 farms in Baldwin County, with soybeans, cattle and cotton as the leading products. Grain bodies, cattle haulers and farm-plated trucks from those operations are welcome, and the title plus any farm registration card is enough to get started.
Tank terminals and the Mobile riverfront
Superior Carriers, a liquid bulk terminal about 16.1 miles west, and Apex, another 17.9 miles south-west, both appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. If your tanker tractor worked out of either, list the terminals it served and any tank inspection certificates you hold, so the history travels with the photos.
The Energy Information Administration places the Chickasaw petroleum product terminals roughly 18 miles south-west of town. A fuel tractor kept at one of those sites can be collected right where it stands; just let us know whose property it sits on and who can open the gate on the day.
Roughly 19.3 miles south-west lies the Port of Mobile’s AutoMobile Ro/Ro International Terminal, as the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records it. Drivers who ran car haulers or port drayage there can sell without driving back to Bay Minette, and a VIN photo plus the odometer reading starts the conversation.
Rail sidings toward Mobile, a mineral pit to the north-east
Two rail yards, Sibert and Interchange Yard, sit about 19.6 miles south-west on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttled boxes or bulk between those yards and local customers are trucks we collect, wherever they are parked along that corridor.
To the north-east, Harrison Mine, an industrial-mineral operation about 19.4 miles out, is on file with the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Dump trucks and tractors that hauled from a mine site usually stay there between jobs, so arrange site access in advance and send us the name of the person who handles visitors.
Short runs, long runs and fleet sizes in Bay Minette
Bay Minette carriers report 171 drivers working within 100 miles and 164 going beyond it, according to FMCSA’s census. A long-haul tractor may be out of state when you decide to sell, so tell us where it will be parked next rather than where it is registered.
Twenty-six Bay Minette carriers gave FMCSA a mileage figure, and the middle truck among them logs 20,000 miles in a year. An odometer photo and the most recent service invoice are the two records that let us see a truck’s yearly use in your own words.
At the top of the Bay Minette list in FMCSA’s census, one operator fields 42 power units with 30 drivers, the next 22 units with 26 drivers, and a third 12 units with 15 drivers. If you manage a group of trucks like that and want to sell several, send a list of VINs and where each one is parked, and we schedule collections truck by truck.
Model years and the local economy
Roadside inspectors checked 56 Bay Minette trucks from September 2024 to August 2026, and FMCSA’s inspection records from those stops give a median model year of 2018 and 46.4 percent of units at ten years or older. We buy across that whole range; the model year, make and VIN are all we need to begin.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts show 5,190 jobs in Bay Minette in 2023, with 573 in manufacturing, 248 in construction and 125 in transportation and warehousing. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 41 construction establishments, and the dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies those firms run are trucks we collect from the job yard itself.
The questions we get asked in Bay Minette
- My tanker sits by the Chickasaw fuel terminals south-west of town - does it need hauling up to Bay Minette first? The Energy Information Administration puts the Chickasaw terminals about 18 miles south-west of town, and we collect the truck right there. Name the terminal operator or lot owner holding the tractor, and the collection gets booked through them.
- Do you take log trucks and farm trucks from around Baldwin County?FMCSA’s carrier census lists 23 local carriers hauling logs and lumber and 25 hauling farm supplies, and we buy the trucks behind both. Have the title and any farm registration ready, and say which road the truck is parked off.
- My Bay Minette company ran trucks for its own materials, not for hire - does that kind of fleet qualify?Private fleets make up 77 of the 139 carriers on FMCSA’s census for Bay Minette, and we buy from them regularly. The title should be in the company’s name, and whoever is authorised to sign for the business completes the paperwork.
- Do you buy older model years from around Bay Minette?FMCSA roadside inspection records show 46.4 percent of trucks inspected here are ten or more years old, and we buy across every model year. Send the VIN, make and model year to get started.
