Stone pits south of town
Barely 1.3 miles south-west of the Childersburg town centre, the crushed-stone pit called Childersburg Quarry is on file with the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A dump truck or tractor that has shuttled stone out of that pit is probably parked close by, so give us the yard address and a name for whoever holds the gate key when you get in touch.
Further south, Omya Alabama Plant (9.3 miles) and Sylacauga Marble, Mine #1 (10.9 miles) appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, the second as a dimension-stone quarry. If your truck has worked either site, send photos of the body, the cab and the plate, along with the title, so we can match the vehicle to the paperwork before we arrange collection.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists two cement plants, Argos Roberta Plant 18.5 miles south-west and Leeds Plant 20.9 miles north-west, plus Jordan Plant, an industrial-mineral mine, at 20.3 miles. Mixer and bulk-haul owners on those routes should have registration and any service log ready; we collect from the lot where the truck sits.
Track to the north
Two yards up the line: Honda Auto, then Coosa Pines
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Honda Auto yard lies 1.8 miles north of Childersburg. A day cab used for short transfers to and from that yard can stay put; tell us which side of the tracks it is parked on and we plan the pickup around it.
Coosa Pines, a second rail yard on the North American Rail Network, is 7 miles north. Owners whose tractors run between Coosa Pines and the town should list the VIN, the odometer reading and the axle setup in their first message, since those three details answer most of what we ask next.
Freight, lumber and farm haulers registered in Childersburg
Forty-six active motor carriers are based here according to FMCSA’s carrier census. In that FMCSA census, general freight is the cargo listed by 22 of them, machinery and large objects by 11, and farm supplies and logs, poles, beams and lumber by 9 each. Whichever of those your rig hauled, we buy it, and the title in your name is the main document to have on hand.
Of those carriers, the federal census counts 39 as intrastate and 7 as interstate, while 24 operate as private fleets carrying their own goods. A private-fleet truck titled to a business needs a signature from someone authorised to sign for that company, so line that person up before collection day.
The three biggest fleets registered in town run 13, 9 and 9 power units in FMCSA’s census, and 2 new carriers registered in 2025 after 3 in 2024. Selling several units from a small fleet works the same as selling one; send a list of VINs and where each truck is parked.
Ten Childersburg carriers filed annual mileage with FMCSA, and their median truck covered 29,444 miles; jot your own odometer figure down before you write to us.
Give us the exact model year, make and engine when you write; the rest of our questions start from those three.
Roughly two in five of those 42 inspected Childersburg units, 40 percent per the FMCSA roadside records, carried a model year ten or more years back. Both newer and older units are trucks we buy, and an inspection report or service record from your files helps us see the truck as you know it.
Plants, farms, bridges
Jobs, farms and bridges in the area
Manufacturing accounts for 253 of Childersburg’s 1,728 jobs in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, ahead of wholesale trade at 157, transportation and warehousing at 59 and construction at 51. Box trucks and straight trucks serving plants and wholesale docks are welcome here; photos of the box interior and the liftgate, if it has one, are useful.
Cotton, corn and cattle lead output across the 522 Talladega County farms that USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture recorded. A farm truck or livestock hauler parked out in the county can be collected from the farm, so give us the road and a gate contact.
If your truck belongs to one of those firms, the business name on the title must match whoever signs it over.
Of the 14 bridges logged near town in the National Bridge Inventory, 1 is load-posted and none has clearance under 14 feet. Tell us the route into your yard so the collection truck uses an approach that fits it.

- Will you take a Childersburg log truck or a county farm truck?Nine Childersburg carriers list logs, poles, beams and lumber with FMCSA, and nine list farm supplies, and we buy trucks from both kinds of work. Photos of the bed, the bunks or the body help.
