Mine-gate pickups
Coal trucks between Fishtrap and the Choctaw pit
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Fishtrap coal mine 9.7 miles south of Dora and the Choctaw Mine 11.4 miles to the west. A coal hauler that shuttles between pits like these is often parked at the mine gate or a nearby lot between shifts, so tell us which side of town it sits on and who can let us in.
Ten Dora-based motor carriers list coal or coke among their cargo in FMCSA’s carrier census. If your end-dump or tractor ran that work, gather the title, the current registration and any mine-site inspection sheets before you call, and we can collect it from the yard where it already stands.
Dump beds at Bessie, tankers at the VULCAN rack
Two crushed-stone quarries appear on Mine Safety and Health Administration records close by: Bessie Mine about 6.2 miles south-east and SOUTHERN RED ROCK, LLC about 6.3 miles east. Dump trucks and aggregate trailers that work those pits can be picked up on site; send photos of the bed, the frame and the cab so we know what to bring.
West of town, the Energy Information Administration places the VULCAN petroleum product terminal 5.7 miles out, with the BIRMINGPORT terminal 11.7 miles south. A tanker tractor that loaded at either rack only needs its VIN, odometer reading and the location where it is parked for us to start.
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 62 active motor carriers based in Dora; 52 of them operate intrastate only, 10 cross state lines and 25 run private fleets hauling their own goods. Whichever group your truck belongs to, the sale works the same way, starting with a clear title in your name.
By cargo type, the same FMCSA census shows 26 local carriers hauling general freight, 20 moving machinery and large objects, and 15 carrying logs, poles, beams or lumber. Log trucks and lowboys from those operations are welcome; a few photos of the trailer and the tractor together help us plan the collection.
Among drivers working for Dora carriers, FMCSA’s records place 89 within a 100-mile radius and 49 beyond it. If your rig is out on a longer run right now, tell us where it will be parked when it comes home.
One-truck owners and ten-truck operations alike
The biggest fleet registered in Dora runs 10 power units with 10 drivers, according to FMCSA’s carrier census, and the next two each have 6 power units. Selling one truck out of a small fleet like that is common; list every unit you want gone and we will look at each.
New authority keeps arriving too: the FMCSA census records 5 carriers registering here in 2025 and 4 in 2024. For a newer operator whose truck is still financed, have the lender’s name ready so the lien release can be arranged before the title changes hands.
Across the six Dora carriers that report yearly mileage in FMCSA filings, the middle truck logs 17,740 miles. Have the current odometer reading written down when you contact us; it is one of the first details we ask for.

Factory jobs, cattle farms and builders near Dora
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 572 jobs in Dora, with manufacturing accounting for 118 of them, or 20.6 percent. Box trucks and flatbeds that serve local plants fit what we buy, and the plant’s loading yard is a fine place for us to meet you.
Walker County had 437 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, horses and cut flowers among the leading products. A livestock hauler or farm flatbed can stay at the barn; give us directions down the county road and a time someone is home.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 16 construction establishments, and their dump trucks and equipment haulers often sit on job sites. Tell us the site address and whether a tow truck can reach the unit.
