Elba’s seventy-five registered motor carriers
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 75 active carriers in Elba, and 59 of them are registered for intrastate work only. A truck from one of those outfits has most likely spent its life on Alabama roads, so the Alabama title and current registration are the two papers to find first.
Private fleets moving their own loads make up 48 of Elba’s 75 carriers in FMCSA’s records. If your tractor or straight truck belonged to a farm, a sawmill or a contractor, tell us what it carried; that answers most of our questions before we ask them.
Only 16 Elba carriers hold interstate authority under FMCSA’s carrier census. If yours was one of them, keep the IRP cab card and any apportioned plate paperwork with the title so the registration history is complete when we collect.
Cargo lists
Logs, machinery and farm supplies
Elba carriers in FMCSA’s census list general freight (24), machinery and large objects (23), farm supplies (20) and logs, poles, beams and lumber (18) as cargo. Log trucks, lowboys and flatbeds all fit what we collect here; photos of the trailer hitch, the bed and the cab help us see the setup you describe.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 666 farms across Coffee County, with cattle, cotton and corn at the top. A grain truck or cattle hauler parked at a barn outside town can stay there; send us the field road or farm address and we plan the pickup around gates and soft ground.
One-truck and two-truck outfits near Elba
The three biggest fleets in Elba run 9, 6 and 6 power units according to FMCSA’s carrier census, so most sellers here own one truck or a handful. Selling a single unit or two at once works the same way: one VIN at a time, one title each.
Drivers working within 100 miles number 83 against 46 going farther, per FMCSA’s carrier census. Across the 13 carriers reporting mileage, the census puts the median at 10,000 miles a truck each year, so send an odometer photo along with the VIN when you contact us.
Six Elba carriers signed up with FMCSA in 2025 against just two the year before, per the carrier census. If you started an outfit recently and are now selling its truck, the USDOT number and the title in the business’s name are what we will ask to see.
How old Elba’s inspected rigs are
Thirty Elba-based trucks stopped between September 2024 and August 2026 carry a median model year of 2018.5 in FMCSA roadside inspection records. Have the model year and VIN off the door jamb ready, since that is the first line of every quote request.
In those same FMCSA roadside inspection records, about one in three of the inspected trucks (33.3%) was ten or more model years old. Older or newer, the paperwork list is identical: title, registration and any service records you kept.
Stagefields, the sand plant and town jobs
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places Runkle Stagefield 5.4 miles south of Elba and Stinson 5AB Stagefield 5.5 miles south-east. If your truck sits on private land off those south roads, a street address or map pin is enough for us to find it.
Bellwood Sand Plant, listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lies 24.6 miles south-east of town. Dump trucks that hauled sand from there can be collected wherever they are parked now, at the pit road or back home in Elba.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 1,343 jobs in Elba, with manufacturing holding 509 of them, or 37.9%. Builders count too: the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns shows 8 construction establishments tied to Elba. A box truck or flatbed from a plant or a builder’s yard needs the same title in the company name and a signer authorized to release it.
A missing Alabama title and the rest of the Elba paperwork
If the title for your Elba truck is missing, the state’s title agency issues the replacement, and it should be in your hands before we schedule pickup. Start that request early, and keep the lien release if the truck was ever financed.
Beyond the title, gather the registration, any inspection reports and a set of clear photos: the cab, both sides, the frame and the odometer. With those four things together, a Coffee County seller can finish the whole sale from the kitchen table.
