Gravel north and south-east
A gravel pit on either side of Elmore, one close and one farther out
Scott Pit, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 1.4 miles north of Elmore, is close enough that a dump truck parked there is effectively parked in town. If your truck works that pit, give us the gate contact and the spot where it sits between loads, and we can collect it on site rather than have you move it.
Red Eagle, another sand and gravel operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, lies 8.7 miles south-east. A tandem or tri-axle that rotates between Red Eagle and Scott Pit can be picked up at whichever site is easier to reach; tell us which one, and send photos of the body, the frame and the cab so we see the whole truck before we arrive.
Terminals on the southern stretch
Fuel, rail and liquid bulk ten miles south
Heading south, the Energy Information Administration places the MONTGOMERY petroleum product terminal 10.6 miles from Elmore, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal at 12.7 miles. Tractors that pull tankers out of those gates are trucks we buy; note which terminal yours loaded at and have its registration to hand when you call.
Two rail yards, S&N at 10.7 miles and CHESTER at 10.8 miles, appear on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, both south of town. A day cab that shuttles between those yards and local shippers can stay where it is parked; we come to the yard if you arrange access.
Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, 11.8 miles south, and the NG Montgomery JFHQ AFRC / CSMS 01 installation, 11.5 miles south-east, both appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. If your truck is kept near either one, tell us early so we can plan a collection point outside any controlled gate.
Small fleets, nearly all hauling inside Alabama
Of the 29 active carriers FMCSA’s carrier census places in Elmore, 24 haul intrastate while just 5 operate interstate. For most sellers here that means the truck carries Alabama plates and Alabama paperwork, so have the state title and current registration together before you reach out.
Fifteen of those 29 are private fleets hauling their own goods, according to the same federal census, rather than for-hire outfits. A contractor or farm operation selling its own truck should have someone with signing authority for the business ready, along with the title in the company’s name.
The fleets are small: per the FMCSA register, two operators run seven power units each with five drivers, and a third runs six units with two drivers. Selling one tractor or several from a yard that size works the same way; list each VIN and we will go through them one at a time.
Loads Elmore carriers list
Lowboy freight, car hauling and cotton-country supplies
General freight leads the cargo list at 13 carriers on FMCSA’s census, with machinery and large objects at 9, farm supplies at 6 and motor vehicles at 5. Lowboys, flatbeds and car haulers all fit that mix, so tell us the trailer type along with the tractor when you describe what you have.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 14 construction establishments in the area, which lines up beside the 9 machinery carriers on the federal list. If your truck has moved equipment for building sites, include photos of the deck, the ramps and the tie-down points.
Out across Elmore County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture tallies 478 farms, with cotton, corn and cattle as the leading products. A grain truck or livestock hauler parked on a farm lane is fine to leave there; give us directions to the field entrance and we will find it.
Elmore’s trucks keep their miles low and close
A median of 5,000 miles per truck shows up among the seven Elmore carriers that gave FMCSA an annual mileage figure. Have the odometer reading and the VIN ready first; those two numbers start every conversation we have about a truck.
On the same federal carrier census, 30 drivers here work inside a hundred-mile radius and 21 range beyond it. Whether your truck stays close to town or spends weeks away, tell us where it will be parked on the day you want it collected.
New registrations have been steady but few: FMCSA recorded two new carriers in 2024 and two more in 2025. If you set up your authority recently and are now selling, bring your USDOT number along with the title so the paperwork matches.
Sorting out a missing title at the Wetumpka courthouse office
In Alabama, titles go through the Alabama Department of Revenue, which works through County License Plate Issuing Officials. For Elmore the office is Elmore County’s, at 100 East Commerce St., Wetumpka, 36092, about 8 miles from town according to the Alabama Department of Revenue.
If the title is missing, start the replacement at that Wetumpka office before you arrange the sale, and bring the VIN and your ID. A truck held by a lender needs the lien release as well, so ask the lienholder for it at the same time.
