Gravel on two sides
City Pit and Lambert Materials, either side of town
City Pit, which the Mine Safety and Health Administration records as a sand and gravel operation, lies 4.3 miles south-west of Emerald Mountain. If your dump truck or end-dump trailer has been loading there, it may still be sitting at the pit when you decide to sell; give us the gate location and a name to call, and we arrange collection at the pit itself.
Lambert Materials, another sand and gravel site, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records 7.1 miles to the south-east. A tri-axle or quad-axle dump that splits its week between Lambert and City Pit can be collected from either yard, so tell us which one it is parked in this week and send the VIN with your first message.
East and west mines
Shorter Pit and the Landsdown plant
To the east, Shorter Pit is an industrial-mineral mine 10.4 miles out, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Haul trucks and tractors that carry mineral loads off that site are trucks we buy; photograph the cab, the frame and the bed or trailer so we can see the whole unit before the pickup is booked.
Westward, 13.4 miles from town, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Landsdown Montgomery Plant, also an industrial-mineral mine. Keep the title, the registration card and any service log together in the cab of a truck that works there; those three papers are what the sale rests on.
Tank rack, rail
The Montgomery terminal and the rail yards to the west
MONTGOMERY, a petroleum product terminal, is 13.4 miles west of Emerald Mountain on the Energy Information Administration’s list. A tanker tractor or fuel trailer that loads at that rack is one we purchase, and it helps to tell us what product it carried and whether the tank has been cleaned out.
Two rail yards, CHESTER at 12.6 miles and S&N at 13.6 miles, both to the west, are recorded in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your day cab shuttles freight between those yards and a warehouse, it can stay parked near the tracks; send the address and we plan the pickup around the yard’s hours.
Guard facility
Near the National Guard facility
Ten miles west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists NG Montgomery JFHQ AFRC / CSMS 01 as a military installation. Contractors who haul to that site, and service members posted there with a personal truck to sell, can leave the truck where it sits and handle the paperwork from wherever they are.
If you are being reassigned away from the Montgomery area, sign the title over only once the sale is agreed, and keep a copy of the registration for yourself. Ask us any question about a jointly titled or out-of-state registered truck before you move.
Grain, cotton and cattle haulers off Elmore County land
Elmore County holds 478 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cotton, corn and cattle head that county’s list. Grain trucks, cattle haulers and module or bale trucks off those farms are all trucks we buy, and they can be collected from the barn or field lot where they are stored.
For a farm truck, check whose name is on the title before you call; a truck registered to the farm business needs that business to sign. If the title is missing, the state’s title agency handles a replacement, and you can start that while we look over your photos.
