Sand and gravel a few miles up the road
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists BALDWIN SAND & GRAVEL, LLC. about 5.5 miles north-west of Gulf Shores, and RUEGGS PIT roughly 10 miles due north. A dump truck or tractor that runs between those pits and coastal job sites may well be parked at a yard closer to the pits than to the beach, so give us the street address where it sits now rather than your home address.
If your truck is kept on a pit property, let us know who holds the gate key and which hours the site is open. For an aggregate truck, send a photo of the body or bed from each side, plus the cab and the VIN plate.
Flatbeds, car haulers and coil loads from Gulf Shores
Of the 100 active carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census places in this Baldwin County beach town, 55 put general freight on their cargo list. The same census shows 31 naming machinery and large objects, 24 hauling motor vehicles, and 20 carrying metal in sheets, coils or rolls. A car hauler, a lowboy for equipment or a flatbed rigged for coil all fit what we collect here; tell us which trailer, if any, goes with the tractor.
Of those same 100 carriers, the federal census records 39 as interstate and 61 as operating within Alabama only, while 54 are private fleets moving their own goods. If your truck belongs to a business that hauls its own materials, the seller on the title is usually the company, so have someone with authority to sign for it ready when we arrange the pickup.
Small outfits, one larger fleet
The biggest fleet listed in FMCSA’s carrier census for Gulf Shores runs 33 power units with 33 drivers; the next two each run 9 power units, one with 9 drivers and one with 6. Most other outfits in town are smaller than that, and whether you own a single tractor or are clearing several from a lot, each truck gets its own title check and its own set of photos.
Registration of new carriers here was modest, with FMCSA’s census showing 8 new carriers in 2024 and 3 in 2025. If you started up in either year and are now selling the truck you began with, bring your USDOT number along with the title so the registration details line up with the paperwork.
Annual miles and route reach on the Alabama coast
Across 28 local carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA, the median truck logs 66,250 miles a year. When you contact us, read the odometer and note it with the VIN; those two figures are the first things we ask about any tractor or straight truck.
Driver counts filed with the federal carrier census put 137 drivers here on routes within 100 miles and 143 going beyond it. A truck that works long routes may be away from Gulf Shores when you decide to sell; tell us the town where it will be parked, and we will arrange to collect it there.
A 2017 median on the coastal roadside checks
FMCSA roadside inspection records from September 2024 to August 2026 take in 82 trucks run by Gulf Shores carriers, and their median model year is 2017. In those roadside inspection records, about 47.6 percent of the trucks were ten or more model years old.
Whatever the year on your title, keep any inspection reports and service records with the truck. Those papers, alongside photos of the cab, the frame and the tires, tell us the truck’s history before we arrange to come and get it.
Construction, farms and the airfields
LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put 7,690 jobs in Gulf Shores in 2023, of which 244 were in construction, 124 in manufacturing and 58 in transportation and warehousing. Builders here number 74 construction establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Trucks that serve those builders are often stored at a contractor’s yard, so name the business holding the keys.
Baldwin County had 853 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with soybeans, cattle and cotton at the top. A grain truck or livestock hauler from a county farm can be collected at the farm itself; give us directions to the barn or shed where it is kept.
Barin Field lies about 9 miles north-east of town and NOLF Wolf about 10.7 miles north-east, each listed as a military installation by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck is parked near either one, check whether the lot needs a pass, and tell us before we schedule the pickup.
The questions we get asked in Gulf Shores
- Will low bridges get in the way when you come for my truck in Gulf Shores?Of the 15 bridges the National Bridge Inventory lists in Gulf Shores, none is load-posted and none has a clearance under 14 feet. Send the street where the truck sits, near the beach or inland, and the route out to it is ours to work out.
- My dump truck is kept near one of the gravel pits north of town. Must I drag it down to the beach town before you come?BALDWIN SAND & GRAVEL, LLC. is about 5.5 miles north-west of Gulf Shores and RUEGGS PIT about 10 miles north, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and we collect from either area. Pass along the pit address and the name of whoever unlocks that yard.
- I haul cars from Gulf Shores. Is a car-hauling rig something you collect?Motor vehicles are carried by 24 of the 100 active Gulf Shores carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and car haulers are among the trucks we collect. Send photos of the tractor and the trailer deck, with the VIN for each.
- Which Alabama papers should a Gulf Shores owner gather first?Gulf Shores trucks are titled in Alabama, so have the Alabama title in the name of the seller, the current registration, and any inspection or service records. If the title is lost, tell us at the start so the replacement can be arranged before pickup.
