Two quarries the same distance out
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Battleground Rock Quarry 7.6 miles south-west of Hartselle and Lacon Quarry 7.6 miles south-east, both crushed-stone operations. If your dump truck or tractor is parked at either one, tell us which quarry and who controls the gate, and we arrange collection on site rather than asking you to move it.
Further out, Pit #1, a dimension-stone quarry, is 21.2 miles south-west of town according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A truck that sits at a pit that far from Hartselle can be photographed where it stands; send the cab, the frame, the bed and the tires, plus the VIN plate, and we start from those.
North toward OAKWORTH and the Huntsville ramp
Two OAKWORTH rail yards appear in the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, at 10.4 and 12.3 miles north of Hartselle. Day cabs that shuttle loads to those yards are trucks we buy; give us the yard’s name and the spot where the tractor is parked so the pickup is planned around the rail property.
Hunt Refining, a liquid bulk terminal, is 12.7 miles north on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, and the Huntsville rail intermodal ramp is 17.2 miles north-east by that same agency’s figures. If your tractor has pulled tank trailers to the terminal or containers off the ramp, keep any site inspection sheets with the title; they tell us where the truck has worked.
Redstone Arsenal, a military installation, lies 20.9 miles north-east of town in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing. A truck parked behind a controlled gate there needs a named contact who can let us in, so put that person’s number in your first message.
Machinery, hay and general freight out of Hartselle
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 207 active carriers based in Hartselle, with 62 hauling general freight and 61 hauling machinery and large objects. A flatbed or lowboy rig from that second group is as welcome as a van tractor; tell us the trailer type it pulls, or whether you are selling the tractor alone.
Farm supplies are listed by 48 local carriers and grain, feed and hay by 40, according to FMCSA’s census of registered carriers. Whether yours is a grain hopper tractor or a feed truck, have the title and current registration in your name before we schedule a visit.
Of those carriers, the census shows 173 operating intrastate, 33 interstate and 127 running private fleets that haul their own goods. If your truck carried only your company’s own freight inside Alabama, the Alabama title and registration are the two documents we ask to see first.
Across 112 Hartselle-based trucks inspected between September 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year at 2020, with a quarter of them ten or more years old. Whatever the year on your title, send the VIN first, since the build details we need come from it.
Among 34 local carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median is 20,000 miles per truck. Note the current odometer reading in your first message alongside the VIN, and keep any service records together with the paperwork.
Hartselle fleets, large and single-truck
The three largest Hartselle fleets on FMCSA’s census list 231, 96 and 14 power units. If you are retiring several units from a fleet, send one list with each VIN and where each truck is parked, and we work through them as a group.
In 2024 and again in 2025, six new Hartselle carriers registered, as FMCSA’s carrier census shows. An owner-operator selling a single tractor follows the same steps as a fleet: title, registration, photos and the parking address.
FMCSA’s census also records 537 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 930 driving beyond that radius. If your truck is out on a long run when you decide to sell, tell us where it will be parked when it comes back, and we collect it there.
Hartselle factory floors, job sites and cattle farms
Manufacturing accounts for 990 of the 5,704 jobs located in Hartselle in 2023, and construction for 674, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks and straight trucks from plant deliveries and dump or flatbed units from building sites are trucks we collect from the yard where they sit.
Hartselle has 54 construction establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally, from small crews to larger contractors. If your truck belongs to a contractor’s yard, the person whose name is on the title is the one who signs, so confirm that before we arrive.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,102 farms in Morgan County, with cattle, soybeans and corn at the top. A livestock hauler or grain truck kept at a farm off a county road can be collected right there; give us directions to the barn or field gate.
Load-posted crossings around Hartselle
Around Hartselle, 6 of the 29 bridges carry posted load limits and not one clears less than 14 feet, per the Federal Highway Administration’s National Bridge Inventory. When you give us the address, mention any posted bridge on the only road in, so the recovery truck takes another route.
If the title is lost, request a replacement from Alabama’s title agency before the sale; with the 6 load-posted crossings counted by the National Bridge Inventory in mind, we plan the route once the paperwork is ready.

Include its VIN, a set of photos and whose name appears on the Alabama title.
- Do you buy trucks from fleets as well as single owners?Hartselle’s three largest fleets on FMCSA’s census run 231, 96 and 14 power units, and we buy from fleets of any size as well as owner-operators. Send a list of VINs and parking locations.
- The Alabama title for my Hartselle truck has gone missing; what now?Alabama’s title agency issues replacement titles, so apply there before the sale. Once the replacement is in your name, send it with the registration and photos.
