Stone and gravel south-east toward Wadley
Long Pit, a sand and gravel operation 13.2 miles south-east of Lineville, and Wadley Crushed Stone, a crushed-stone quarry 15.5 miles in the same direction, both appear in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s mine listings. A dump truck or tractor that has worked those pits may still be parked near the scale house, and we can collect it there once you tell us who holds the gate key.
East toward Wedowee, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Wedowee Quarry, a dimension-stone site 16 miles out, and to the north-west it lists Coldwater Quarry at 21.2 miles. If your truck hauled block or aggregate from either one, send photos of the bed or trailer along with the cab and a note of which quarry it served.
Lumber loads lead Lineville’s carrier rolls
Of the 60 active carriers based here in FMCSA’s carrier census, 28 list logs, poles, beams or lumber as cargo and 21 list machinery or large objects. That points to log trucks, knuckleboom rigs and lowboy tractors, and for any of them we want the VIN, the registration and a clear shot of the loader or deck.
Thirteen of those carriers declare general freight and 12 declare farm supplies, again on FMCSA’s carrier census. A truck that does both farm and freight work can be sold as one unit; tell us what is mounted on it and whether the trailer goes with it.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 53 of Lineville’s carriers running intrastate and only 7 crossing state lines, with 35 operating as private fleets hauling their own goods. Most trucks sold from here will be sitting in a yard or beside a house in town, so give us the street address and say whether a lowboy or rollback can reach the truck.
Drivers working for local carriers split 145 short-radius to 64 long-haul, according to FMCSA’s carrier census, and the 18 carriers reporting mileage put the median truck at 27,005 miles a year. Have the most recent odometer reading ready when you call; it is one of the first figures we ask for.
The largest fleet here runs 18 power units with 18 drivers, the next 14 units, then 13, on FMCSA’s carrier census. Owners selling several trucks at once can list each VIN in one message, and we will arrange to collect them together.
Lineville’s inspected trucks skew to 2022
FMCSA roadside inspection records stopped 57 Lineville-based trucks from September 2024 to August 2026; their median model year was 2022, and 19.3 percent were ten or more model years old. Whatever the year of yours, the model year and engine make go at the top of your message.
Those same FMCSA roadside inspection records are a reminder to keep the latest inspection report with the truck. Put it in the cab with the registration so the paperwork travels with it at pickup.
Across the county line
Lineville titles are handled at the Wedowee courthouse
The Alabama Department of Revenue handles title applications through County License Plate Issuing Officials, and the nearest office it lists is Randolph County, at 1 Main St., Courthouse, Wedowee, 36278, about 15.4 miles from Lineville. If the title is missing, start the replacement there before you sell.
Bring the VIN, your registration and photo identification to that Wedowee courthouse office. If a lender still holds a lien on the truck, ask the bank for a lien release first, because the Alabama Department of Revenue will need it on the title application.
Bridges, plants, pasture
Bridges, jobs and cattle around town
The National Bridge Inventory counts 12 bridges near Lineville, one of them load-posted and none with a clearance below fourteen feet. Tall loads can come out on most local routes, but if your truck is parked past that one posted bridge, mention it so we route the carrier around it.
Manufacturing accounts for 88 of the 695 jobs located here in 2023, a 12.7 percent share in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and County Business Patterns lists 6 construction establishments. Box trucks and flatbeds from plant or job-site work are trucks we buy, with their registration and keys.
Cattle, goats and horses lead the 434 farms in Clay County recorded by USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Livestock haulers and farm tractors parked on a pasture can be collected from the property; just tell us whether the gate and the ground will take a loaded rollback.
