Coal gates south
Choctaw Mine and the Blue Creek workings
The Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Choctaw Mine, a coal mine, 1.8 miles south of Parrish. A dump truck or tractor that runs coal out of that gate is often parked close to home between shifts, so tell us whether it sits in a yard in town or at the mine itself, and who can let us in.
Blue Creek Mine No. 1 and the Blue Creek Processing coal preparation plant both lie south-west of Parrish, at 13.2 and 13.6 miles on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. If your truck has shuttled between the mine and the prep plant, send photos of the cab, the frame and the bed or trailer, plus the VIN, and say which of the two sites it worked.
Eight Parrish carriers list coal or coke among their cargo in FMCSA’s carrier census. If yours is one of them, have the title and current registration together before you call, so the paperwork side of a coal-hauler sale is settled at the start.
Terminals at Vulcan and Birmingport, quarries to the east
East of Parrish by 6.4 miles, the Energy Information Administration lists VULCAN as a petroleum product terminal; BIRMINGPORT, another such terminal, is 15.4 miles south-east. A tanker tractor that loads at either one can be collected from wherever it is kept, so give us the street address and any gate code.
Two crushed-stone quarries appear east of town in Mine Safety and Health Administration records: Bessie Mine at 15.3 miles and SOUTHERN RED ROCK, LLC at 17.7. Dump trucks and end-dump trailers from that stretch belong on the list we buy, and service records, if you kept them, tell us what the truck has been doing.
North of Parrish, at 13.2 miles, is GOB Farms, an industrial-mineral mine listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Mention which of these sites your truck served when you first get in touch.
Coal, lumber and machinery loads leaving Parrish
Of the 30 active Parrish carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, just 2 are authorised for interstate work while 28 keep to Alabama. A truck that has worked only Alabama roads is just as welcome; its Alabama title and registration are what we will ask to see.
General freight is the cargo 14 of those carriers list, machinery and large objects 12, and logs, poles, beams and lumber 7, according to the same federal census. Flatbeds, lowboys, log trailers and van tractors from Parrish all fit what we collect, so tell us the body type and trailer setup in your first message.
Sixteen of the town’s carriers are private fleets hauling their own goods, FMCSA records show. If the truck belongs to a business rather than a person, have the name on the title match the company that is selling it, and an officer ready to sign.
Fourteen-tractor top
One operator with fourteen tractors, many with one or two
On FMCSA’s carrier census, the top Parrish fleet runs 14 power units with 13 drivers; the next two run 3 units with 3 drivers and 2 units with 5. Selling one tractor out of a small fleet works the same as selling a whole yard: list the VINs and where each one is parked.
Driver counts from FMCSA put 54 Parrish drivers inside a hundred-mile radius of home and 28 beyond it. For a truck that spends its week on short local runs, the place we collect it is usually its home yard, so tell us when it is back and parked.
Two new carriers registered in Parrish in 2025 and none in 2024, per the federal carrier census. A newer operation selling a truck needs the same things as an older one: the title, the registration and a photo set taken in daylight.
The Jasper counter that reissues Parrish titles
A Parrish seller whose title is lost goes through the Alabama Department of Revenue, which works through County License Plate Issuing Officials rather than a state counter. The Alabama Department of Revenue lists the Walker County office at 1900 3rd Ave., Jasper, 35502, 6.9 miles from Parrish, as the counter to visit if the title has gone missing.
Ask the Jasper office for a replacement before we schedule collection, and bring the registration and your ID. If a lender still holds the title, tell us the lender’s name so the release can be arranged alongside the sale.
Parrish-area barns: cattle, horses and cut greens
Walker County has 437 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cattle, equine and cut flowers with cultivated greens top the list. Livestock haulers, farm flatbeds and grain or hay trucks kept on a Parrish-area farm can be collected right from the barn lot.
If a farm truck is titled to the farm’s business name, the same signer rule applies as for any company vehicle. Send a photo of the title’s front along with pictures of the truck, and tell us the gravel or field road we should expect on the way in.
