Stone and coal on the edges of Pinson
Mine #1, a crushed-stone quarry, lies 7.5 miles north of Pinson according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and Dolcito Quarry sits 10.2 miles to the south-west. If your dump truck or tri-axle spends its days between those pits and job sites, it can stay at the quarry lot or your yard when you sell; give us the gate details and who holds the key.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists Black Warrior Mine No 1, a coal mine 11.6 miles west of town. A truck that has worked a mine site often carries its own inspection sheets and service logs, so gather those with the title before you call, and send photos of the bed, the frame rails and the cab interior.
NORRIS, NEW BOYLES and the bulk terminal south-west of town
Two rail yards appear on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: NORRIS, 10.6 miles south of Pinson, and NEW BOYLES, 10.7 miles south-west. Day cabs that shuttle loads to and from those yards are among the tractors we buy, and a tractor parked near either one can be collected right where it sits.
Bulk Transport CO, a liquid bulk terminal 12.2 miles south-west, is on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list too. Tank tractors that have served it should come with their registration and any annual inspection reports, and it helps to tell us whether the trailer goes with the tractor or stays behind.
Freight, steel coil and timber on Pinson registrations
Of the 139 active Pinson carriers on FMCSA’s census, 75 put general freight on their registration. Box trucks, straight trucks and dry-van tractors from that work are a fit for us, whichever of those you run.
Machinery and large objects appear on 25 of those registrations in the FMCSA census, while logs, poles, beams and lumber and metal sheets, coils and rolls each show up on 18. Lowboys, log trucks and flatbed tractors all qualify; if you are selling the trailer as well, include its own title and VIN in the photos you send.
On operation type, the federal carrier census records 95 intrastate carriers, 43 interstate and 51 private fleets in town. A private-fleet truck titled to a business needs a signature from someone authorised to sign for that company, so sort that out before collection day.
Inspection-year spread and annual mileage for Pinson tractors
Roadside stops logged by FMCSA between December 2024 and August 2026 caught 44 trucks from Pinson outfits; their median model year was 2017, and 36.4 percent dated back ten years or more. Whatever the year of yours, have the VIN and the odometer reading ready when you first reach out.
For the 33 carriers that reported it, the median is 32,793 miles per truck per year in FMCSA’s census. The same FMCSA census shows all 139 carriers running within a 100-mile radius and 110 also going beyond it, so a truck may be on the road far from home; tell us where it will be parked and we will arrange the pickup there.
Pinson payrolls, contractors and Jefferson County farmland
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 1,251 jobs in Pinson for 2023, of them 99 in manufacturing and 51 in construction. Thirty-nine construction businesses operate in the area on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally. A contractor selling a dump truck, flatbed or service body truck can have it collected straight from the job site or the shop yard.
Jefferson County has 398 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle and cut Christmas trees among the top products. Farm trucks, stock haulers and flatbeds kept on rural property are welcome; we only need a clear route in and someone to point out the truck.
Newer carriers and small fleets
Thirteen new carriers registered in Pinson during 2025 and eight in 2024, by FMCSA’s carrier census. If you started up recently and are now selling a tractor, bring the title, the current registration and any lien release, since a newer truck is often still financed.
The three biggest fleets in town run 17, 8 and 7 power units, per the FMCSA census, so most outfits here are small. One truck or several, list each VIN and its parking spot and we will plan a single visit for them.
The questions we get asked in Pinson
- Can my dump truck stay at the stone pit north of town while you buy it?Mine #1 sits 7.5 miles north of town by the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, and we collect from quarry lots like that one. Let us know which quarry staff can open up and what hours the lot is staffed.
- Our Pinson company hauls only its own goods with the truck. Can we still sell it to you?Fifty-one of Pinson’s carriers run private fleets according to FMCSA’s census, and their trucks are welcome. The title must be signed by someone with authority for the business that owns it.
