Mesa is the East Valley's building and plant town, 141 square miles of it. Construction is one job in twelve inside the city and manufacturing one in fourteen, the Higley, Val Vista and Beeline sand and gravel plants and the Mesa Mine crushed-stone quarry all sit inside the city line, and nearly four in five of the carriers based here keep to Arizona.
After general freight the cargoes its carriers declare most are machinery, motor vehicles, steel coil and lumber, so a Mesa yard holds a machinery hauler, a flatbed with lumber for a subdivision, a belly dump from the Higley plant, a garbage truck, and the semi truck with a sleeper on the interstate lane. The biggest fleet based here runs more than a thousand power units.
Valley Auto Drive

Three posted bridges, none low
Arizona folds its enforcement tolerance into the axle figure and keeps the federal 80,000 pounds on the interstates, as the Arizona page explains. Mesa's own list is 240 bridges inside the city, three with a load posting and none below fourteen feet, so a belly dump out of the Higley plant reads the scale and nothing on a sign.
