A small, in-state trucking base
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 164 active motor carriers based in Agoura Hills, and 153 of them are authorized for intrastate work only, against 11 that cross state lines. For an in-state truck from one of those carriers, tell us the street address where it is parked in or around town, and we collect it there.
Of those 164, the same federal census counts 43 as private fleets, outfits that move their own goods rather than freight for hire. A box truck or service body from a business like that sells the same way as a tractor: have the title in the company’s name and the person who can sign for the company available.
New registrations stay modest here, with 8 carriers added in 2024 and 5 in 2025 according to FMCSA. If you started an operation in the last two years and are now selling its truck, have the USDOT number handy so the title and registration match the authority on file.
Freight, moving vans and refuse
General freight leads the cargo declarations, with 39 local carriers listing it in FMCSA’s census; 11 more list household goods. Moving vans and dry vans from these outfits are trucks we buy, and a set of photos of the box interior, the liftgate and the cab gets the conversation started.
Seven Agoura Hills carriers declare motor vehicles as cargo and six declare garbage, refuse and trash, per the federal carrier census. Car haulers and refuse bodies carry equipment beyond the chassis, so note the make of the deck or packer body and send its serial plate along with the VIN.
Among the carriers that report annual mileage to FMCSA, 14 of them put the median at 17,655 miles per truck. Note the odometer reading when you first reach us, alongside the VIN, so both are on record from the start.
Model years from FMCSA roadside checks on local rigs
FMCSA roadside inspection records cover 42 trucks from local carriers inspected between November 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year falling between 2016 and 2017. Those same inspection records show about 45 percent of the 42 were ten or more model years old; we buy trucks across that whole spread of model years.
The largest fleet based in town runs 20 power units with 20 drivers, according to the carrier census, and the next two run 8 and 7. A small fleet selling several units at once can send one list of VINs, plate numbers and where each truck sits, and we work through them together.
Quarries north and west of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Tapo Rock & Sand, a sand and gravel operation 12.7 miles north, and Canyon Rock Plant, an industrial-mineral mine 13 miles north. Dump trucks and transfer rigs that work those pits can stay parked at the yard; give us the gate contact and we arrange the pickup there.
Moorpark Quarry sits 14.5 miles north-west and Pacific Rock Inc, a crushed-stone quarry, the same 14.5 miles to the west, both on MSHA’s mine list. If your tri-axle or end dump has been hauling aggregate out of those sites, send any scale tickets or service records you kept along with the photos.
East toward the Valley
Fuel terminals and rail yards in Van Nuys
Two petroleum product terminals in Van Nuys appear in Energy Information Administration listings, at 17 and 17.2 miles east of Agoura Hills. A fuel tanker or bobtail that loads there is a truck we take on; tell us the tank’s capacity and compartment count, and keep its inspection certificates with the title.
Raymer Yard, 17.1 miles east, and Gemco Yard, 19 miles east, are both rail yards on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck works the drayage between those yards and nearby docks, give us the address where it is usually parked rather than the yard itself.
Contractors, wholesalers and nursery growers
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 10,878 jobs in Agoura Hills in 2023, with 873 of them in construction and 547 in wholesale trade. County Business Patterns from the same bureau lists 129 construction establishments, so flatbeds, stake beds and contractor trucks are a familiar sight on local job sites, and we collect them right from those sites.
Los Angeles County had 766 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with potted flowering plants, mushrooms and horses at the top of its list. Horse trailers’ tow rigs and nursery delivery trucks from those operations count too; registration in the farm’s name is fine as long as whoever signs can show they own it.
Lost titles, open bridges and CARB rulings
California’s Department of Motor Vehicles handles titles for trucks registered in Agoura Hills, so a lost certificate of title is replaced through the DMV before the sale closes. Start that request early and tell us it is underway when you first get in touch.
Agoura Hills has 31 spans in the National Bridge Inventory, with zero load-posted and zero below 14 feet of clearance, so a rollback or lowboy reaches your street freely. The pickup address is the only routing detail we need from you.
The California Air Resources Board repealed the Advanced Clean Fleets requirements for drayage, high-priority and federal fleets, and a federal court filing shows enforcement of the zero-emission sales requirement paused. Whichever rule applies to your diesel tractor, include the engine model year when you send the VIN, so the emissions details are settled alongside the title.
The questions we get asked in Agoura Hills
- Can you collect my end dump from the gravel yard up at Moorpark Quarry instead of in Agoura Hills?Moorpark Quarry is 14.5 miles north-west of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect the truck where it is parked. Name the quarry staffer who opens the gate, and the collection is booked with that person.
- Which office reissues a missing truck title for an Agoura Hills owner?Trucks registered in Agoura Hills are titled by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, which issues the duplicate. Tell us when you have applied, and the sale can be lined up while it is processed.
- I run a moving van company here. Do you buy box trucks?Eleven Agoura Hills carriers declare household goods as cargo in FMCSA’s census, and their moving vans are trucks we buy. Send the VIN, odometer reading and photos of the box and cab to start.
- Will you take a tractor built over a decade ago from an Agoura Hills fleet?FMCSA roadside inspection records show about 45 percent of the 42 local trucks inspected were ten or more model years old, and we buy trucks from every part of that range. Send the VIN and photos and we go from there.
