Sell your semi truck for cash in Alameda the easy and convenient way

Alameda sits on its island across the estuary from the Port of Oakland, and the tractors, container chassis haulers and reefer units that work its terminals and rail yards are the trucks we come to collect here.

Container work across the estuary

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Port of Oakland 1.3 miles south-east of Alameda. If your tractor spends its days in the terminal queues there, tell us where it is parked between moves, whether that is a yard in town or a lot near the gates, and we will arrange collection at that spot.

Two roll-on/roll-off terminals, Charles P. Howard at 4.1 miles and Matson at 4.3 miles north-west, both appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. A day cab that shuttles between those berths should come with its registration card and the title in hand, plus photos of the cab, the fifth wheel and the tires.

Of Alameda’s carriers, 41 haul intermodal containers according to FMCSA’s carrier census. If yours is one of them, have the VIN and the odometer reading ready when you first contact us, and mention whether a chassis or container goes with the tractor or stays behind.

East and West Oakland yards

East Oakland Yard lies 3.3 miles north and West Oakland Yard 4.2 miles north-west, as mapped by the North American Rail Network from the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that dray-hauls boxes off either yard can be picked up wherever it sits, provided someone can open the gate on the day.

Howard and Matson also show up as rail intermodal ramps, each about four miles out, per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Ramp tractors often carry service logs from a shop on the Oakland side; bring those along with the title so the truck’s history is on paper rather than only in your memory.

Island carriers, reefer to general freight

FMCSA’s carrier census lists 284 active carriers based in Alameda, with 234 running intrastate, 50 interstate and 40 operating as private fleets. A private fleet selling a box truck or a yard tractor follows the same steps as an owner-operator: title, registration and a contact who can show us the unit.

General freight is the most common cargo here, at 88 carriers in that federal census, while 18 haul refrigerated food and another 18 carry meat. If you are parting with a reefer, send a photo of the reefer unit’s plate along with the cab shots so both pieces are identified.

Among those Alameda operators, the three biggest fleets run 48, 40 and 20 power units, a figure drawn from FMCSA records. Fleet managers selling several units at once can send one list of VINs and yard addresses instead of contacting us truck by truck.

New registrations stood at 11 in 2024 and 7 in 2025, as the FMCSA census shows. If you started out recently and the title still names a lender, have the lien release or the lender’s payoff contact ready before collection is scheduled.

Island trucks at FMCSA inspection checkpoints

FMCSA roadside inspection records covering 159 Alameda trucks inspected between August 2024 and August 2026 put the median model year at 2019, with 25.16 percent ten or more model years old. Whatever the year of yours, the model year on the title is the one we use, so make sure it matches the cab’s VIN plate.

Within the FMCSA carrier census, Alameda carriers report 239 drivers working within 100 miles and 407 going beyond that range, and the 47 carriers reporting mileage show a median of 18,333 miles per truck. If your truck is out on a longer run when you contact us, tell us the address where it will next be parked.

Aggregate, building and manufacturing

Tidewater Oakland Marine Aggregate, a sand and gravel operation 2.6 miles north-east, is recorded by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Dump trucks and mixers that load there may be parked at a contractor’s yard, so tell us the yard’s address and who holds the keys.

Census Bureau LEHD job counts for 2023 show 33,354 jobs in Alameda, of which 4,669 are in manufacturing, 2,762 in construction, 867 in wholesale trade and 639 in transportation and warehousing. On the island, 124 construction establishments appear in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. A contractor’s flatbed or stake-bed truck goes through the same title and registration check as a highway tractor.

Across Alameda County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 397 farms, with cattle, honey and equine the top listings. A livestock hauler or ranch flatbed kept out in the county can be collected where it is stored.

Bridges and clean-truck regulations

None of Alameda’s 5 bridges in the National Bridge Inventory carries a load posting or a clearance below 14 feet. Let us know if the truck is behind a gate, in a tight lot or on a narrow street, so collection is planned for the spot it is in.

California’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage requirements are listed as repealed, and the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested. If you are selling a port drayage tractor, have its California registration current and any engine certification label visible in your photos.
