Shell Stockton Terminal and the liquid bulk lots
The Energy Information Administration places the Shell Stockton Terminal 2.4 miles south-west of August and a second petroleum product terminal, listed simply as Stockton, 2.6 miles out in the same direction. A tractor that loaded fuel racks there is one we can collect from your yard in August or from a lot beside either terminal; send us the address and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
Two liquid bulk terminals appear on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records south-west of town: Transload Solutions at 3.3 miles and Superior Carriers at 4 miles. If your tractor pulled tankers between those sites, gather the title, the current California registration and any hazmat or tank inspection paperwork you kept, and photograph the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel before you get in touch.
Containers off the Stockton waterfront and rail ramps
Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings put the port of Stockton 2.7 miles west of August, and the same agency lists a Stockton rail intermodal ramp 7.5 miles to the south-east. Day cabs that shuttle boxes between the docks and that ramp can be picked up wherever they are parked between jobs, so tell us which side of town the tractor sleeps on.
Stockton Yard, 3.8 miles south, joins Mormon Yard on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. For a drayage tractor that worked these yards, read us the VIN off the door jamb and the odometer off the dash, and say whether a chassis or trailer is coming with it.
August payrolls in freight sheds, distribution and building trades
Freight movement and storage employed 338 people working in August in 2023, or 24.6 percent of the town’s 1,373 jobs, on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks, reefers and yard tractors from that work are all trucks we buy; list the body type and the reefer unit make when you describe yours.
Wholesale trade held 224 of those jobs and construction 203, according to the same LEHD figures for 2023. Dump trucks, flatbeds and stake-beds from contractors and distributors in town qualify; send photos of the bed, the hoist or the liftgate along with the cab.
Manufacturing accounted for another 109 positions here on the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD tally. Straight trucks that carry goods off a plant floor to a customer dock are welcome too; have the registration card and any service invoices in one folder.
Milk tankers and cattle trailers on San Joaquin County farms
San Joaquin County counted 3,439 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with milk, cattle and corn as its leading products. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and grain trucks that work those farms can be collected straight from the ranch, so give us the road name and tell us whether the gate is locked.
Farm trucks are often titled to a family member or a farm partnership rather than to the driver. Check whose name is on the California title before you call; if the original is lost, ask California’s title agency for a duplicate before the sale.
Where the California Air Resources Board truck rules stand
Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high priority fleet requirements have been repealed, per the California Air Resources Board rulemaking notice. Owners of port tractors working the Stockton waterfront from August can sell under the same steps as anyone else: title, registration and photos.
A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California records enforcement of the zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty sales requirement as paused, and the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is listed as contested, with amendments announced by CARB. None of those rules stops you from selling a diesel tractor you own outright in San Joaquin County.
The questions we get asked in August
- Our fuel tanker stays at a lot by the Shell Stockton Terminal; does it have to come back to August first? The Energy Information Administration lists that terminal 2.4 miles south-west of August, close enough that we collect from the lot itself. Give us the lot address and the name of the person who can let us in.
- Do you take a yard tractor or day cab from a warehouse here?Transportation and warehousing held 338 of August’s 1,373 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts, and the tractors from that work are ones we purchase. Read us the VIN and mileage from that tractor and photograph each side of it, front to rear.
- My cattle hauler stays out on the ranch past August; will you collect it from the ranch yard?Cattle ranks among the top products of San Joaquin County’s 3,439 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and we collect livestock trucks from the ranch where they stand. Tell us the road, the gate arrangement and whose name is on the title.
- I misplaced the pink slip for my Mormon Yard drayage tractor; where do I get a replacement?A truck registered in August is titled by California’s title agency, which issues duplicates; apply there and send us the registration card in the meantime so we can match the VIN.
