Quarries on the north side of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Reliance Plant, a sand and gravel operation, 1.2 miles west of Azusa, and Azusa Rock, a crushed-stone quarry, 1.4 miles to the north-west. If your dump truck, transfer or mixer has hauled out of either pit, tell us which one when you get in touch and send photos of the bed, the frame and the tires along with the cab.
Irwindale Aggregates, another sand and gravel site on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, lies 4 miles south-west. A truck parked in an aggregate yard can stay there for collection; give us the yard address and the name of whoever can open the gate so the pickup is arranged with them.
In 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 72 Azusa jobs in mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction and 1,080 in construction. Whether your truck carried rock for a contractor or for the pit itself, have the title and current registration in your name before we arrange the pickup.
Chassis work between Azusa and the Industry railheads
Nine miles south, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Los Angeles - City of Industry intermodal ramp, and the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the COI Intermodal Terminal Yard at the same distance. If your day cab has pulled chassis between those ramps and the San Gabriel Valley, start by sending us the VIN and the odometer reading.
Rowland Yard, 9.6 miles south on the North American Rail Network, is the third rail site near town. Of the 546 active carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census records in Azusa, 19 list intermodal containers as cargo; if yours is one of them, let us know whether the tractor is kept at a drayage lot or at home.
We collect from the lot where the truck is parked, and a tractor left near the Industry ramps can stay right there. Tell us the address and whether a flatbed or tow can reach it.
Azusa carriers and the freight they carry
General freight is the cargo listed by 197 Azusa carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, while 20 list garbage, refuse and trash and another 20 list logs, poles, beams and lumber. Box trucks, roll-offs and flatbeds all fit that mix; tell us what the truck was set up to carry and what body or trailer comes with it.
According to FMCSA’s carrier census, 476 carriers based here operate intrastate only, 69 run interstate and 125 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A private fleet selling a truck should have someone with signing authority for the company title ready when we confirm the sale.
Driver counts filed with FMCSA show 624 drivers working within 100 miles of Azusa and 789 working beyond that radius. Among the 92 carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA, the median was 30,000 miles per truck a year; if you logged yours, have the mileage records ready.
From single trucks to fleets of a hundred
FMCSA’s carrier census shows the three biggest fleets in Azusa running 131, 127 and 50 power units, with 181, 127 and 40 drivers respectively. If you manage a fleet and are selling several trucks at once, send a list of VINs and where each unit is parked, and we will plan the collections together.
New registrations filed with FMCSA came to 24 Azusa carriers in 2024 and another 24 in 2025. An owner-operator who started recently and is now selling should have the title, the registration card and any lease or lien release papers in one place before calling.
Roadside inspection records kept by FMCSA cover 271 trucks from Azusa carriers between September 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2018 and 29 percent of them ten or more years old. Whatever the year of your truck, the model year, engine and transmission on the title or spec sheet are what we ask for first.
Azusa plants, distributors and contractor yards
Manufacturing accounted for 3,329 of Azusa’s 16,125 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with wholesale trade at 1,088 and transportation and warehousing at 453. Straight trucks and tractors that shuttle between plants and distributors are part of what we buy; service records from that work help us understand the truck.
Azusa holds 94 construction establishments but only 4 warehousing ones on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally. If the truck belongs to a contractor’s yard, tell us which yard and when someone is on site to hand over keys.
Fuel and tank work
Liquid bulk and petroleum terminals to the south-west
Fifteen miles south-west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Savage Service Corp as a liquid bulk terminal, and the Energy Information Administration records a petroleum product terminal at Montebello 15.1 miles out. A tractor that has pulled tank trailers to those terminals should come with any inspection reports you kept from that work.
California rules on clean trucks have shifted: the California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements have been repealed, its Advanced Clean Trucks regulation is contested, and enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused under a federal court filing. Tell us the engine model year on the truck you are selling, and we will ask about the rest.
