Quarries both ways
Rock and gravel east and west of the valley
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Napa Quarry, an industrial-mineral mine, 12.1 miles east of Boyes Hot Springs, and Soiland Co., Inc., a crushed-stone quarry, 13.4 miles west. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that shuttles between town and either pit can be sold from the spot it is parked; give us the street address and say whether it sits inside a gated yard.
Farther out on the west side, Roblar Quarry LLC works sand and gravel 17 miles away and Mark West Quarry cuts crushed stone 18.8 miles to the north-west, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. If your rig hauled aggregate from Roblar or Mark West, have the title in your name and the registration card on hand before we talk, and photograph the bed, the frame and the cab in daylight.
Two rail yards and a fuel terminal toward Napa and the bay
Napa Yard lies 11.4 miles east, and Lombard Yard 14.8 miles south-east, according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Tractors that drop and hook at either yard often sit there between loads; if yours is parked at a rail facility rather than at home, tell us who controls the lot so the collection can be cleared with them.
Toward the bay, the Energy Information Administration places the SELBYCROCKETT petroleum product terminal 22.4 miles south-east of town. For a tanker tractor or fuel truck that loaded there, keep any terminal inspection sheets and service records together with the title, and send the VIN first so we can look up the unit before we ask anything else.
Construction crews and their trucks in Boyes Hot Springs
Census Bureau LEHD job counts put 490 jobs in Boyes Hot Springs in 2023, and 59 of them, a 12 percent share, were in construction. A contractor’s flatbed, stake-bed or small dump truck from one of those crews is the kind of vehicle we collect from a driveway or job site around town.
For a work truck that belongs to a business rather than a person, the name on the title has to match whoever signs. If an owner has retired or a partnership has split, sort out who holds the title with California’s title agency before you contact us, and bring the registration and any lien release with it.
Milk, cattle and flowers in Sonoma County
Sonoma County counted 3,097 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and milk, cattle and cut flowers headed its list of products. Milk tankers, cattle trailers and pulling tractors, and the refrigerated box trucks that carry cut flowers, all work these roads, and each is a truck we take.
A ranch truck is often parked behind a barn or out in a pasture rather than on pavement. Tell us how to reach it, whether the ground is firm enough for a tow vehicle, and who on the property can meet the driver; photos of the truck where it stands help us plan the trip.
Clean Fleets repealed, Clean Trucks contested
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets rule for drayage, high-priority and federal fleets has been repealed, and the board’s own notice describes amendments to the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation, which remains contested. Enforcement of the rule that all new medium- and heavy-duty sales be zero-emission is paused, according to a federal court filing.
None of that stops you selling a diesel tractor or work truck from Boyes Hot Springs. Have the engine family label photographed along with the door sticker showing the build date, so the truck’s emissions details are on record when we review it.
The questions we get asked in Boyes Hot Springs
- My dump truck is parked near Soiland’s quarry west of town; does it need moving before you collect?Soiland Co., Inc. is 13.4 miles west of Boyes Hot Springs on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings, and we collect from that side of town. Send the name of whoever unlocks the Soiland-side gate and when that lot is staffed.
- I ran cattle trailers for a Sonoma County ranch; which details do you want up front?Cattle ranks among Sonoma County’s leading products in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, so trailers and tractors from that work are familiar to us. Start with the VIN, the title holder’s name and clear photos of the tractor and trailer.
- I live in Boyes Hot Springs and cannot find my truck’s title; what now?A replacement for a Boyes Hot Springs truck’s missing title comes from California’s title agency, and the request goes in under the registered owner’s name. Tell us the title is missing when you first get in touch, and send the registration card so the vehicle can be matched to its record.
