Two yards, two directions
Switching tracks on both sides of Bret Harte
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, puts Rogers Yard 1.3 miles south-east of Bret Harte and Modesto Yard 2.2 miles to the north. A tractor that shuttles loads between either yard and the warehouses nearby is the kind of truck we buy, and it can stay parked beside the tracks for collection.
If your rig is kept in a yard lot rather than at home, send us the street address and the name of whoever controls the gate. Add a copy of the California title and the current registration card, and the pickup can be set around the yard’s hours.
Dairy and feed country
What Stanislaus County farms put on the road
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 3,455 farms in Stanislaus County and ranks milk, cattle and corn as its leading products. Bulk milk tankers, livestock haulers, silage trucks and grain bodies all fit what we collect from owners around Bret Harte.
A farm truck often lives in a barn or at the end of a field road, so tell us how a carrier reaches it and whether the ground is paved. Send photos of the cab, the frame, the tires and the body or tank, along with any service records the ranch has on file.
Gravel pits east and north, a mineral mine west
Hughson Aggregates lies 9.9 miles east and Munn & Perkins Pit & Mill 11.1 miles north, both sand and gravel operations on record with the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Dump trucks, transfer rigs and belly-dump tractors that cycle between those pits and Modesto job sites are trucks we take on.
Farther out, the Vernalis Plant, an industrial-mineral mine 18.7 miles west according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, is another site where a hauler might be parked. Give us the VIN and the odometer reading first, then a contact on site who can show the truck, and we can arrange collection from the pit itself.
Up the San Joaquin corridor
Containers, fuel and a defense depot past Lathrop
Lathrop’s rail intermodal ramp is 21.5 miles north-west of Bret Harte on Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, and so is the Tracy Terminal, a petroleum product terminal recorded by the Energy Information Administration. Day cabs pulling containers off that ramp and tractors hauling fuel trailers from Tracy are both trucks we purchase.
Just past them, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records the Def Distr Reg West Sharpe Site, a military installation 21.9 miles north-west. If your truck runs that corridor and is parked closer to Lathrop or Tracy than to Modesto, leave it there; we come to it, so tell us the town and lot where it sits.
Where Sacramento landed
Repealed, contested or paused: the three truck regulations
Of the three California Air Resources Board measures aimed at heavy trucks, the drayage and high-priority fleet portion of Advanced Clean Fleets now carries a repealed status, while the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation stands contested. A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California records that enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles is paused.
Owners near the Modesto yards who held off selling while those rules were unsettled can bring us the truck now with the paperwork they have. A clear title, the registration and the VIN are what a sale here starts from.
