Switching tracks south
Calwa Yard and the Fresno Yard across town
Calwa Yard, which shares the town’s name, sits 0.7 miles south on the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that has been drayed back and forth to that yard is often still parked close by, so give us the street address or lot where it sits and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
Fresno Yard lies 6.8 miles to the north-west on the North American Rail Network as well. If your truck has moved freight between Calwa Yard and the Fresno side, tell us which of the two it is parked nearer to; the pickup is planned at that spot and the truck stays where it is.
Tankers from the terminal south of Calwa
A petroleum product terminal listed as Fresno stands 2.8 miles south of Calwa in the Energy Information Administration’s records. Owners of tank trucks that loaded there should keep the tank’s inspection certificates and any cleaning records with the title, since those papers describe the unit in ways photos cannot.
Further out, Van-G Logistics runs two liquid bulk terminals that the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 10 miles south-east and 13.2 miles south of town. Say which site your tanker served and photograph the barrel, the valves and the hose tubes along with the cab, then send the VIN so the rest of our questions follow from it.
East of Calwa by 14.4 miles, the Sanger Aggregate Plant is an industrial-mineral mine on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list. Dump trucks and transfer rigs from that run can be collected where they stand, so let us know whether the truck is parked at the plant or back in town.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration also records the Rockfield Plant, a sand and gravel operation 15.1 miles north. If your truck hauled out of there, gather the registration, the title and a few clear photos of the bed and chassis before you get in touch.
Factories and warehouses inside Calwa
Calwa’s factory floors held 188 of the town’s 669 jobs in 2023, a 28.1 percent manufacturing share in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks and straight trucks that served a plant here can be sold with their service records attached, which lets us see the truck’s history at a glance.
Wholesale trade accounted for another 117 of those positions, a 17.5 percent share in that LEHD release. A delivery truck from a wholesale route is welcome too; tell us its body type, the liftgate if it has one, and the address where it is kept.
Valley dairies and gins
Cattle, milk and cotton across the valley
Around Calwa, Fresno County counted 4,427 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, milk and cotton leading its list. Livestock haulers, milk tankers and module trucks that served those operations often sit out on a ranch, and we come to the farm gate for them.
For a truck kept on farm property, write down the road and the nearest crossroads, and tell us whether the ground is dry enough for a tow rig to reach it. That detail, plus the title in hand, is what we need to arrange a collection outside town.
Titles in this state come from the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, which handles them through DMV field offices. For Calwa owners, the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles lists its Fresno field office at 655 W Olive Avenue, Fresno, 93728, 4.4 miles away, and that is where to ask for a duplicate if the original has gone missing.
Start that replacement before you list the truck with us, and keep the registration card on hand while it is processed. Once the duplicate arrives from the Department of Motor Vehicles, the sale can go ahead with the paper in your name.
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is listed as contested in its own amendment notice. Separately, a federal court filing shows that the state’s zero-emission sales requirements for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles are on hold, with enforcement paused.
For drayage, high priority and federal fleets, the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation requirements have been repealed, according to the Air Resources Board’s rulemaking record. Calwa owners whose tractors served the nearby rail yards can sell them without waiting on that rule.
