Canyon Rock, Tapo and the Moorpark sand pits
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Canyon Rock Plant, an industrial-mineral mine, 11.1 miles south-west of Castaic, with Tapo Rock & Sand a short way past it at 11.3 miles. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that shuttle between those two pits and job sites are trucks we collect. If yours is parked at either plant’s lot, send us the gate contact along with the VIN so the pickup can be lined up with the site.
Moorpark Quarry, a sand and gravel operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, lies 17.1 miles out in the same south-west direction. A tractor that pulled bottom-dumps or transfer trailers on the Moorpark run can be sold from wherever it last stopped. Photograph the bed, the hoist, the frame rails and the cab, and keep the registration card handy for the call.
Up the grade
Cement from Lebec and freight on the Castaic corridor
Twenty-four point six miles north, the Lebec Cement Plant appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as a cement plant. Bulk pneumatic tankers and the tractors that pull them out of Lebec fit what we purchase. When the truck stays near the plant rather than in town, give us that address and tell us who can let our driver in.
General freight is the cargo listed by 51 of the 165 active carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census records for Castaic. Box trucks, day cabs and sleepers from that general-freight group are welcome; have the title in your name, or a lien release if the truck was financed, before we set a pickup date.
Rail yards and fuel racks toward the Valley
Raymer Yard lies 20 miles south-east, and Gemco Yard 21.5 miles in that direction, according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A drayage tractor that moved loads in and out of those yards can be collected at the yard lot or at your home in Castaic, whichever is easier for you.
Toward Van Nuys, the Energy Information Administration places one petroleum product terminal 20 miles south-east and the Van Nuys Terminal at 22.6 miles. Fuel tankers that loaded at either site are among the trucks we buy; any tank inspection certificates or service logs you kept belong in the folder with the title.
The carriers on Castaic’s register and their loads
Of the 165 active carriers FMCSA’s carrier census lists here, 150 operate intrastate, 15 interstate, and 36 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck that never left California still sells to us the same way; its California registration is the document we will ask to see first.
The same FMCSA census counts 7 Castaic carriers hauling garbage, refuse and trash, 7 carrying passengers and 6 moving refrigerated food. Roll-off and packer trucks, shuttle buses and reefer units all qualify, so tell us which of those yours is when you get in touch.
One Castaic fleet reports 18 power units to FMCSA’s carrier census, and two others report 4 each. Whether you have a single tractor or several from a fleet that size, list each VIN and where each one sits, and we plan collection around the whole group.
Construction work and the trucks on the road
Construction accounts for 357 of the 1,803 jobs located in Castaic, or 19.8 percent, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, while transportation and warehousing account for 56. Sixty construction firms keep an address in the area, going by the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Water trucks, flatbeds and dump trucks from those contractors are trucks we take; have the title and registration together before the call.
Among 49 trucks from Castaic carriers stopped between September 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records give a median model year of 2017, with 42.9 percent ten or more years old. Whatever year yours is, the model year, VIN and current registration are what we need to start.
Drivers for 127 local carriers stay within 100 miles, while 133 carriers report drivers going beyond that distance, per FMCSA’s carrier census, and the 26 carriers that reported mileage show a median of 32,227 miles per truck. If your truck is out on a run when you contact us, tell us where it will be parked next.
