Freight, containers and moving vans from Cerritos
Of the 450 Cerritos-based carriers still active in FMCSA’s carrier census, 176 name general freight among their loads. If your tractor or box truck moved mixed freight around the county, have the title and current registration in hand before you call; those two papers answer most of our first questions.
Intrastate operations make up 376 of the Cerritos carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, against 71 that run interstate, and 92 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck that stayed inside California will carry California registration only, so send a photo of the registration card along with the VIN plate.
Smaller lines show up too: the federal carrier census lists 29 Cerritos carriers hauling intermodal containers, 22 moving paper products and 20 handling household goods. Moving vans, container chassis tractors and paper haulers all fit what we purchase; tell us which of those your truck did so the questions match it.
How old Cerritos rigs are and how far they go
Across 472 trucks checked between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year for Cerritos carriers at 2021, with 11.4 percent ten or more years old. Whatever year yours is, photograph the door sticker that shows the build date so the model year on the title can be matched.
Among the 71 local carriers reporting mileage, the median truck covered 33,333 miles a year according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Send a clear picture of the odometer with the dash lit, and note whether the hours meter differs, since that reading goes on the paperwork we prepare.
Short-radius drivers and one very large Cerritos fleet
Drivers for Cerritos carriers split 886 within a 100-mile radius and 553 beyond it, by the count in FMCSA’s carrier census. If your truck was one of the short-radius units, it may well be parked within the county, and an address plus a gate contact is all we need to plan the collection.
One Cerritos fleet runs 676 power units with 580 drivers, and the next two hold 48 and 28 trucks, per the federal carrier census. Owners of a few units from a fleet that size can list every VIN in one message, and we will handle the titles together rather than one at a time.
Rail yards, terminals and bases close by
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places LA Mirada Yard 3.5 miles east of Cerritos and Crutcher Yard 5 miles west. A tractor sitting near either yard can stay there; give us the lot name and who holds the keys.
Petroleum product terminals at East Hynes, 5.2 miles west, and Signal Hill, 6.6 miles south-west, appear in Energy Information Administration listings. If your truck pulled tank trailers to those racks, keep any site entry or inspection paperwork with the title; it records where the truck has worked.
Savage Service Corp, a liquid bulk terminal 6.3 miles north, and Titan Terminal and Transport, 9.1 miles north-west, are both on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list. Near town the Bureau of Transportation Statistics also records the Norwalk 2 installation 1.8 miles north and NG Los Alamitos JFTB 5.4 miles south; for a truck parked on a secured site, arrange gate access before we arrive.
Warehousing, wholesale and plant jobs around Cerritos
Of 41,699 jobs located in Cerritos in 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 3,329 in transportation and warehousing, 2,835 in wholesale trade and 2,781 in manufacturing. Delivery straight trucks and day cabs serving those employers can be sold with the title in a business name; bring a letter or resolution showing who may sign for the company.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 86 construction establishments and 15 warehousing establishments here, while LEHD records 721 construction jobs. Dump trucks and flatbeds from those firms are on our list; photograph the body and any attached equipment along with the cab.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 766 farms across Los Angeles County, with potted flowering plants, mushrooms and horses leading the list. A stake bed or livestock hauler from a nursery or stable qualifies the same way as a highway tractor.
Title, bridges and California rules
Under the National Bridge Inventory, all 33 bridges around Cerritos carry no load posting and none sit under 14 feet. Tell us whether the truck is a tractor, straight truck or has a trailer attached so we send the right equipment to the address.
A lost California title is replaced through the state’s title agency before or during the sale, so start that request early if the paper is missing. California’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage requirements are listed as repealed and the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement has enforcement paused on the state’s own notices; a diesel tractor is on our list whatever its fuel.
The questions we get asked in Cerritos
- Is an in-state-only Cerritos truck a problem for selling? Not at all: FMCSA’s carrier census lists 376 intrastate carriers in Cerritos; a California title and registration are what we need, whatever routes the truck covered.
