General freight, chassis and moving vans
Of the 539 active Chino Hills carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 346 name general freight among their loads. If your tractor or box truck spent its years on general freight runs, have the title, the current California registration and a few clear photos of the cab and the frame rails ready before you call.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows container hauling in 62 of those registrations, household goods in 31 and paper products in 27. A moving van, a straight truck with a liftgate or a day cab that pulled chassis can all be sold from here; tell us which of those the truck did and send the VIN so we can look it up before we talk.
Of the 539, the federal census records 299 as intrastate-only operations, 240 as interstate and 65 as private fleets hauling their own goods. An intrastate truck that never left California usually has its paperwork in one place, at the California DMV, so check that the name on the title matches yours before we arrange collection.
Authorities opened in 2024 and 2025
New registrations in Chino Hills reached 52 in 2025, up from 33 in 2024, by FMCSA’s carrier census. If you are one of those newer authorities and have decided to step away from the truck, you can sell it while your operating authority is still active or after you have closed it; the title is what transfers, not the USDOT number.
Where a lender still holds the title, have the lienholder’s name and your loan account number to hand. The California DMV is the title agency that records the lien release, and we will tell you which document we need from the lender before collection is booked.
What roadside inspectors recorded
Federal roadside inspection records list 357 trucks from Chino Hills carriers inspected between August 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2019. Have the model year, engine make and the current odometer reading written down when you contact us, since those three details are the first things we ask about any truck.
In those same FMCSA inspection records, 12.3 percent of the trucks inspected were ten or more model years old. Whatever the year of yours, keep the most recent inspection report and any service records together with the title so they go with the truck at pickup.
The census also shows one Chino Hills fleet registering 54 power units with 19 drivers, another 23 units with 22 drivers, and a third with 18 of each, according to FMCSA. If you run a small fleet and want to sell several units at once, send us a list with each VIN and the address where each truck is parked.
Local radius and annual miles
Drivers working within 100 miles of base number 362 across Chino Hills carriers, while 655 drive beyond that radius, as reported to FMCSA’s carrier census. A local truck is usually parked at home or at a yard in the area; a long-haul truck may be out of state when you decide to sell, so tell us where it will be that week.
Among the 179 local carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median truck covers about 70,000 miles a year. Read the odometer before you call and include a photo of the dash with the ignition on, so the figure we write down is the one on the truck.
Rail, gravel and fuel
Yards, pits and terminals around the city
The North American Rail Network, maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places West Corona Yard 7.8 miles south-east of Chino Hills and the Montclair yard 8.5 miles north. A day cab parked at a drayage lot near either yard can be collected there; give us the lot address and a contact who can let us through the gate.
Upland Pit and Mill lies 11.9 miles north and All American Aggregates 12.6 miles east, both listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration as sand and gravel operations, with the 3M Corona Plant quarry 13.9 miles south-east. Dump trucks, transfer trailers and mixers that worked those sites are trucks we buy; note the body type and axle count when you send photos.
To the south-west, the Energy Information Administration lists the Orange petroleum product terminal 12.3 miles away, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics puts the City of Industry intermodal ramp 12.7 miles west. For a fuel tanker, tell us the trailer’s last product and whether it is still attached to the tractor; for a container hauler, tell us whether the chassis is yours or leased.
Jobsites, wholesale docks and dairy country
Census Bureau LEHD job counts for 2023 put 602 Chino Hills jobs in construction and another 602 in wholesale trade, out of 16,860 in total. Contractors’ dump trucks, flatbeds and wholesale delivery trucks are all trucks we collect from a jobsite, a warehouse dock or a driveway, so tell us which one yours is parked at.
Chino Hills has 130 construction establishments and just 5 in warehousing, in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. If the truck is titled to a company rather than to you, have an officer of that company ready to sign the title and a copy of the business registration.
Across San Bernardino County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 809 farms, with milk, cattle and potted flowering plants as the leading products. A milk tanker, livestock hauler or refrigerated nursery truck kept on a county farm can be picked up at the farm gate; send directions if the address alone will not find it.
Air Resources Board rules and a Chino Hills drayage tractor
Of the 539 carriers FMCSA’s carrier census places in Chino Hills, 62 list intermodal containers, and the Air Resources Board shows the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage requirements those tractors once faced as repealed. A day cab that pulled chassis to the City of Industry ramp or the Montclair yard sells on its certificate of ownership and current plates.
The Board lists its Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested, and a federal court record shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement as paused. Give us the model year and engine make of your tractor, and say whether the chassis it pulls is yours or leased, before we set a collection date in Chino Hills.
The questions we get asked in Chino Hills
- Can you collect a day cab from a drayage lot by West Corona Yard instead of in Chino Hills itself?Collection from that lot is fine, since the North American Rail Network lists West Corona Yard 7.8 miles south-east of Chino Hills, and the pickup happens wherever the truck sits. Send the lot address with the name of whoever holds the gate key.
- Will you take a dump truck that hauled sand and gravel from Upland Pit and Mill? That dump truck qualifies; the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Upland Pit and Mill 11.9 miles north of Chino Hills, and dump trucks from sites like it are trucks we buy. Send photos of the bed, the cab and the VIN plate.
- Who handles a lost title for a truck registered in Chino Hills? The California DMV, the state’s title agency, issues a duplicate title. Apply for it before collection so the title can be signed over at pickup.
