Gravel and crushed stone in the hills around Cloverdale
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Highway 175 Quarry, a sand and gravel operation 14.4 miles north of Cloverdale, and S Bar S Quarry, a crushed-stone site 16.7 miles to the north-east. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that shuttle between those pits and Sonoma County job sites are trucks we buy. If yours is parked up at a pit, give us the quarry name and who holds the gate key, and we arrange the collection there.
Two more mine sites appear on federal records: DNA Ridge Rock, a sand and gravel pit 19.2 miles east, and Canyon Rock Co Inc, a crushed-stone quarry 20 miles south, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A truck that hauled aggregate from either one can stay where it sits. Send photos of the bed, the hoist, the cab and the VIN plate, plus the title, and we can start from those.
Freight, lumber and machinery carriers in town
Cloverdale, a town of 8,886 people on Census Bureau figures, is home base for 114 active motor carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census. That same census shows 26 of them hauling general freight and 13 carrying logs, poles, beams and lumber. Box trucks, flatbeds and log trailers all fit what we purchase, so tell us which kind of load your truck pulled and what body or trailer comes with it.
Ten carriers here list machinery and large objects, and eight list farm supplies, under the same federal carrier census. Lowboys, tilt decks and stake beds that move equipment between ranches and yards are part of that picture. Have the registration and any service records on hand when you call, since those answer most of our first questions about a heavy-haul unit.
In-state hauling from a Sonoma County base
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 110 Cloverdale carriers running intrastate only and four crossing state lines, with 30 registered as private carriage. A truck that has spent its working life inside California is likely parked close to where it worked. Tell us the street address or yard, and we come to it rather than asking you to deliver anywhere.
Drivers attached to Cloverdale carriers split 214 working within 100 miles and 133 going beyond that, the FMCSA census shows. Across the 19 carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median truck covers 15,000 miles a year. Write down the odometer reading and send it to us with the VIN.
Fleet sizes stay small here: the three biggest operations registered with FMCSA run 19, 10 and 6 power units. Owners of fleets like these sometimes sell two or three units together. List each truck by VIN and where it is parked, and we handle them as one collection.
What the 2024-2026 inspection stops showed
Between November 2024 and August 2026, inspectors stopped 31 trucks run by Cloverdale outfits, and the median one was built for model year 2020, per FMCSA roadside inspection records. Whatever year your truck is, put it in your first message along with the make and model, so we know which truck we are talking about.
In that same set of roadside inspections, 25.8 percent of trucks were ten or more model years old. Older and newer units are both on our list. For an older truck, the title and registration matter just as much, so have both in hand, and if the title has gone missing, start a replacement with California’s title agency before the pickup.
Builders, mills and Sonoma County farms
Manufacturing held 247 and construction 226 of the 1,911 jobs sited inside Cloverdale in 2023, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Building firms add up to 48 construction establishments here in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Contractors’ dump trucks, stake beds and flatbeds from those firms are trucks we purchase; tell us whether the truck sits at a job site or a home yard.
Farm, forest and fishing work accounted for 99 local jobs that year and wholesale trade for 91, again on the LEHD job counts. Dairies, cattle ranches and cut-flower growers lead the 3,097 Sonoma County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Feed trucks, livestock haulers and refrigerated units from that farm work can be collected at the ranch where they are kept.
California’s clean truck rules, as they stand
The California Air Resources Board has repealed its Advanced Clean Fleets requirements for drayage fleets and for high-priority and federal fleets, according to its 2025 rulemaking notice. Its Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, per a CARB news release on amendments to that standard. If one of these rules shaped your plans for a truck, check the current status at those CARB links before you decide.
A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California shows enforcement paused on the requirement that all new medium- and heavy-duty sales be zero-emission by 2036. Whether you keep a diesel tractor or sell it is your call; if you sell, the same title, registration and photos are all we need.
