Vans, reefers and coil flatbeds
General freight shows up on 124 of the 312 active Coachella carrier filings in FMCSA’s carrier census. If your tractor has pulled dry vans or flatbeds for one of those outfits, send us the VIN, the title and a set of photos of the cab and the frame so we can plan the collection.
Fresh produce appears on 28 Coachella carrier filings in FMCSA’s census, with grain, feed and hay on another 20. A reefer tractor or a hay truck parked at a ranch gate is easy for us to reach; tell us which road it is on and who can unlock the yard.
Sixteen local carriers haul metal sheets, coils and rolls, according to the same FMCSA census. Flatbed tractors set up for coil work go on our list too, so mention the trailer setup and any chains or racks that come with the truck.
Fields and packing sheds
Farm work around the east valley
Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting account for 1,111 of the 7,798 jobs located in Coachella in 2023, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Trucks that serve that work often sit between seasons at a grower’s yard, and we collect from the yard rather than asking you to move the truck into town.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 2,424 farms across Riverside County, with milk, mushrooms and cotton at the top of its product list. Whether your rig ran milk tankers to a dairy or cotton loads to a gin, keep the registration and any service invoices together so the paperwork matches the truck when we arrive.
Pits and building sites
Sand, gravel and construction loads
Coachella Valley Aggregate, a sand and gravel operation 4.4 miles north of town, is on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list of mines. West Coast Aggregate Supply Inc, 4.5 miles south-east, appears on that same MSHA list. If your dump truck or transfer rig is parked at either pit, give us the site name and a contact who can let us through the gate.
The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns counts 66 construction establishments in the area, and LEHD job counts put 462 Coachella jobs in construction. A truck that works between those contractors and the pits can be picked up at the job site; send a phone photo of the plate and the title so we know whose name is on it.
Intrastate runs and longer lanes
Of the 312 carriers, 247 run intrastate only and 65 cross state lines, while 45 are private fleets hauling their own goods, per FMCSA. An intrastate tractor that has never left California needs nothing extra from you; the state title and current registration are enough to start.
Within FMCSA’s carrier census, 279 drivers are reported working inside a 100-mile radius and 344 beyond it. For the 65 carriers reporting mileage to that census, the median truck covered 55,000 miles a year. Have the odometer reading handy when you call, since it goes on the paperwork either way.
Ten new carriers registered in Coachella in 2025 and 19 in 2024, by FMCSA’s records. If you started an outfit recently and are now winding it down, have your USDOT number ready along with the title.
The trucks on Coachella roads
FMCSA roadside inspection records dated between September 2024 and August 2026 cover 167 trucks tied to Coachella carriers, with a median model year of 2018. Tell us the model year and the engine on yours when you first get in touch.
Among those 167 inspected trucks, 37.7 percent carried a model year ten or more years back, the roadside inspection records show. We buy across that whole span, so list the make, model and year and attach your latest inspection report if you have one.
Bridges, routes and clean truck rules
Coachella’s 22 bridges carry no load postings and no clearances below 14 feet, according to the National Bridge Inventory. Our tow and haul trucks can reach most yards in town, so give us the street address and note any tight gate or soft ground at the spot.
California’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements are listed as repealed, enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused, and the Advanced Clean Trucks rule is contested. None of that stops a sale; send the title and registration and we handle the transfer paperwork with the state’s title agency.
The questions we get asked in Coachella
- Our dump truck sits at the aggregate pit up the road from Coachella; does it have to come into town first? The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Coachella Valley Aggregate 4.4 miles north of town, and our driver collects from a pit like that where the truck already sits. Name the person at the pit who will let our driver in.
- The title for my hay truck has gone missing; what happens to the sale?Yes, once a replacement comes through California’s title agency, which issues duplicate titles. Start that request and contact us at the same time so the rest of the sale is lined up.
- My reefer tractor only ever hauled produce inside California; does that change anything for you?FMCSA’s carrier census shows 247 of Coachella’s 312 carriers operate intrastate only, and an in-state reefer sells to us on a California title and registration like any other.
