Sand pits north and south-west of Colfax
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Bear River Materials, a sand and gravel operation, 5.8 miles south-west of Colfax, and GREENHORN PIT & MILL 7.3 miles north. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that works between those pits is often parked at the pit or at the owner’s yard rather than in town, so give us the exact spot and a name for whoever controls the gate.
South of town, Cool Cave Quarry is a crushed-stone quarry 13.6 miles out, and the Big Seam mine, a metal mine, sits 8.9 miles to the south-east, both on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. If your truck hauled from either, send photos of the bed, the frame and the tires with the cab, and tell us which site it worked so our questions start from there.
Mineral sites and Beale out past Lincoln
Heading west, Capital Rock LLC (an industrial-mineral mine) is 21.6 miles away and Parks Bar Quarry 22.2 miles, while GMcB Lincoln Pits & Mill lies 22.8 miles south-west, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A truck stored down at one of those sites does not need to come back up the hill to Colfax; we collect it where it stands.
Beale Air Force Base, a military installation the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 23.8 miles west, is a different kind of site to reach. If the truck is anywhere with controlled entry, tell us early who can sign a driver in, and have the registration card in the cab so it can be checked at the gate.
A town of in-state haulers
Of the 59 active Colfax carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 52 stay intrastate, only 6 cross state lines, and 20 are private fleets moving their own goods. For a seller that usually means a California-plated truck with in-state registration, so have the current registration and the title in your name before we talk about pickup.
General freight leads the cargo list at 12 carriers, ahead of logs, poles, beams and lumber at 7, machinery and large objects at 5, and household goods at 4, by the same federal census. A log truck, a lowboy tractor or a moving box truck from this town is exactly the sort of unit we buy; tell us the body or trailer setup along with the VIN.
Of those carriers, 42 report drivers working within 100 miles, the carrier census shows, and the nine that reported mileage put the median at 18,500 miles a truck each year. A short-haul Colfax truck’s odometer reading belongs in your first message, next to the VIN.
Model years seen on Colfax roadside stops
Colfax-based trucks stopped for FMCSA roadside inspections from September 2024 to July 2026 numbered 25, with a median model year of 2017 and roughly a third, 32 percent, at ten years or older. Whatever the year of yours, the VIN tells us the model and build, so put it at the top of your message.
Colfax’s three biggest fleets field 21, 7 and 4 power units, going by FMCSA’s carrier census. An owner selling several trucks at once can send one list with each VIN and where each one is parked, and we will plan the collections together.
Builders in town, livestock in the hills
Colfax held 599 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, while the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns shows 37 construction establishments. If your truck served a contractor rather than a carrier, the title may be in the business name; check whose name is on it before the sale so the right person signs.
Placer County had 1,093 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, horses and sheep at the top of the list. A stock trailer tractor or a flatbed that hauled hay on a ranch near Colfax can be collected from the property; tell us how a truck reaches the spot where it is parked.
Grass Valley office
A lost title and the office in Grass Valley
The State of California Department of Motor Vehicles handles titles through its DMV field offices, and the nearest to Colfax is the Grass Valley office at 890 Sutton Way, Grass Valley, 95945, 10.5 miles away. If the title is missing or still shows a lender, sort that out there before we schedule the pickup.
Bring the signed-off lien release to Grass Valley if a lender is still printed on the title, and ask the clerk there for the transfer forms the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles requires. Colfax sellers who arrive at pickup with a clean title in their own name, the registration card and every key hand the truck over in one visit.
