Two aggregate pits out past the town line
Just 3.6 miles east of Desert Palms, HJ Hove digs sand and gravel, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s mine records. A tandem dump or transfer rig that hauls aggregate out of a site like that may still be sitting at the pit when you call, so give us the gate location and who can let a driver in.
Farther out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places Dillon Road Pit, another sand and gravel site, 6.4 miles east. If your truck splits its weeks between the two pits, tell us which one it will be at on the day you pick, and keep the keys and title together with whoever is on site.
What to gather before a pit truck changes hands
Aggregate haulers around Dillon Road often run under a mine site’s own safety checks; hand over any inspection sheets the truck collected there along with it. Put them beside the California title and current registration so the whole history travels in one folder.
Photos help us see a gravel truck the way you know it: the bed or box, the frame rails, the tires and the cab, plus a clear shot of the VIN plate. Send them before anyone heads out to Desert Palms, so the visit is about signing, not surveying.
Where a small-town truck is kept
The LEHD job counts (LODES) give Desert Palms a 2023 job tally of 527 within its own limits, a small workplace base. An owner who is also the truck’s only operator can usually settle every question we have in a single call.
In a town of that size the truck often stays at the owner’s home instead of a company yard. Send the street address, say whether a tow rig has room to turn there, and mention any gate code or HOA hours that limit when a driver can come in.
Milk, mushrooms and cotton across Riverside County
Riverside County counts 2,424 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and its top products there are milk, mushrooms and cotton. Bulk milk tankers, refrigerated box trucks and cotton module haulers all come out of that mix, and each is a truck we buy.
If your truck has hauled for a dairy or a mushroom grower somewhere in the county, the reefer unit hours and any washout or sanitation logs belong in the folder with its title. For a cotton hauler, note the trailer or module bed it pulled so we know the whole setup.
CARB’s three truck rules, as of now
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, its drayage and high priority fleet requirements under Advanced Clean Fleets have been repealed, and enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused under a federal court filing. None of those three changes what you need to show us for a diesel truck parked in Desert Palms.
What we ask for stays plain: the title in your name, the registration, and the VIN. If a regulation question about your own truck is on your mind, raise it when you call and we will talk it through against CARB’s published status.
A missing California title
A lost title on a Desert Palms truck is replaced through California’s state title agency before a sale can close. Start that request as soon as you know the title is lost, and tell us when you contact us so we can plan around it.
If a lender is still listed on the title, have the lien release letter ready alongside it. A truck that worked the Hove or Dillon Road pits under a finance agreement often carries one, and the release is the piece that lets the title move.

- Will you collect a dump truck that is still at a gravel pit east of Desert Palms?HJ Hove sits 3.6 miles east of town and Dillon Road Pit 6.4 miles east, both on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list of sand and gravel operations, and a driver can meet your truck at either one. Tell us the gate and who will be on site.
- Could a milk tanker or mushroom reefer from another Riverside County farm sell to you?Riverside County’s 2,424 farms, counted in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, lead with milk, mushrooms and cotton, and the tankers, reefers and module haulers that serve them are trucks we purchase. Bring its title and registration to the farm gate when we meet the truck.
- Does CARB’s paused or repealed truck regulation affect a Desert Palms diesel sale?CARB’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high priority fleet requirements are repealed, the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, and the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement has enforcement paused.
