Discovery Bay’s registered carriers and where their trucks sit
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 47 active carriers based in Discovery Bay, and 41 of them are registered as intrastate operations against 6 that cross state lines. For a seller here, that usually means the tractor or straight truck is parked in a driveway or a small yard in town rather than at a terminal out of state, so give us the street address where it sits.
Of those carriers, the same federal census counts 22 as private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. If your truck belongs to a contractor or a business that moves its own materials, have the title in the name that appears on the registration, and tell us who in the business signs for it.
Dry vans, car carriers and moving vans from the Delta shore
General freight is the cargo listed by 25 Discovery Bay carriers in the FMCSA census, with motor vehicles listed by 4, household goods by 3 and driveaway or towaway work by 2. Box trucks, day cabs pulling dry vans and flatbeds all fit that mix, and we buy each of them.
A car-hauler rig or a moving van is sold with whatever trailer or body goes with it, so say whether the trailer is part of the sale. Send photos of the cab, the deck or box, the tires and the VIN plate, and note the trailer’s own plate if it is titled separately.
New registrations are part of the picture too: FMCSA’s census logs 6 carriers that started here in 2025 and 3 in 2024. If you registered recently and are now selling, keep your USDOT number handy so we can match the truck to the authority it ran under.
Owner-operators and fleets of three to seven
The three biggest operations based here run 7, 4 and 3 power units, each with the same number of drivers, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Most sellers in Discovery Bay are therefore one owner with one truck, or a handful of trucks under one name.
Selling several units from one small fleet works the same way as selling one. List each VIN, where each truck is parked, and whose name is on each title, and we arrange collection around your yard.
Five Discovery Bay carriers file yearly mileage with FMCSA, and their median comes to 14,500 miles a truck. Have the current odometer reading ready when you contact us, along with any service records you keep.
Delta drivers who come home most nights
Drivers working within 100 miles of base number 178 in the FMCSA census for Discovery Bay carriers, while 49 drive beyond that radius. That pattern points to trucks that return to town most nights, which makes them simple to find on collection day.
If the truck is out on a route when you decide to sell, tell us where it will be parked once the driver is back. A local yard, a job site or your own driveway are all fine places for us to pick it up.
Building work and the Byron gravel pits
Of the 1,277 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Discovery Bay for 2023, construction holds 228, a 17.9 percent slice. Alongside that, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tallies 45 construction establishments around the bay.
Two sand and gravel operations on Mine Safety and Health Administration records sit close by: the G3 Enterprises Byron Plant 5 miles south-west and Kellog Creek Aggregates Inc 5.4 miles south-west. Dump trucks, end dumps and transfer rigs that have worked those pits are trucks we buy, so tell us the body type and axle setup.
A dump truck parked at a contractor’s yard out toward Byron can be collected right there. Give us a contact who can open the gate and confirm the title is in hand before the pickup date.
Rail yards, fuel terminals and the Port of Stockton
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, DU POINT YARD lies 10.4 miles north-west and TRACY YARD 15.7 miles south-east. Day cabs that shuttle between those yards and local customers belong on the list of trucks we purchase.
Eastward, the Energy Information Administration places two petroleum product terminals at Stockton, 14.5 and 14.6 miles away, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics adds the Superior Carriers liquid bulk terminal at 15.2 miles and the Port of Stockton at 16.3 miles. A tractor that pulled tankers or containers from that waterfront can be sold from wherever it is parked now.
If your truck is kept near the Stockton terminals rather than in Discovery Bay, give us that address instead. We plan the pickup at the truck’s location, not yours.
Cattle, seed and bulb farms in Contra Costa
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 405 farms in Contra Costa County, led by cattle, flower seeds, and bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers. Livestock haulers, farm flatbeds and ag straight trucks from those operations are welcome here.
Farm trucks are often titled to a ranch or family trust rather than a person. Bring whichever paperwork shows who can sign, and if a title has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues the duplicate before the sale can close.
The questions we get asked in Discovery Bay
- My dump truck hauls out of the Byron gravel pits. Will you pick it up at the plant? The G3 Enterprises Byron Plant sits 5 miles south-west of Discovery Bay on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from sites like it. Name the person who opens the Byron gate and we will set the pickup with them.
- I run one truck intrastate around Discovery Bay. Is one truck enough for you?Of the 47 carriers FMCSA’s census lists in Discovery Bay, 41 run intrastate, many with one or two trucks, and a single truck is exactly what we usually buy. Send the VIN, a few photos and the street or yard in Discovery Bay where the truck waits.
- I can’t find the title to the truck we use on our Contra Costa ranch, so which office replaces it?Contra Costa County’s 405 farms, counted by USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, often title trucks to a ranch name, so check that name first. If the title is truly gone, apply to the state’s title agency for a duplicate and tell us when it is on the way.
- My tractor stays near the Stockton waterfront rather than at home in Discovery Bay, so will you pick it up over there? The Port of Stockton is 16.3 miles east of Discovery Bay according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and we collect trucks where they sit. Send the terminal or lot address and the name of whoever holds the keys there.
