Lumber, hay and general freight out of Dixon
Of the 275 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census for Dixon, 111 list general freight, 32 list logs, poles, beams and lumber, 27 list machinery and large objects, and 25 list grain, feed and hay. A dry van tractor, a log truck, a lowboy rig or a hay flatbed from one of those operations is the kind of unit we collect here, so tell us which of those loads yours carried.
Most Dixon outfits stay inside California: the same FMCSA census counts 212 intrastate carriers against 62 interstate ones, and 63 run private fleets hauling their own goods. If your truck worked a private fleet for a farm, a builder or a distributor, have the California registration card and the title in the same name before we arrive at the yard.
New authorities keep appearing on the books in Dixon, with FMCSA recording 11 carriers registered in 2025 and 6 in 2024. A carrier that started recently and is now selling a tractor should keep its USDOT number handy, since it helps us match the truck to the business that owns it.
Roadside stops, model years and annual miles around Dixon
Roadside inspections between August 2024 and August 2026 covered 816 trucks from Dixon carriers, and FMCSA roadside inspection records put their median model year at 2020, with 21.2 percent of them ten or more model years old. Whatever year your tractor is, send the model year, the VIN and the odometer reading in your first message.
For the 76 Dixon carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median comes to 38,750 miles per truck in a year. FMCSA also lists 822 Dixon drivers working within 100 miles of base and 1,008 going beyond it, so a truck based here may be parked at home in Dixon or at a customer’s lot several counties away; tell us which before we plan the pickup.
The three biggest fleets on file with FMCSA for Dixon run 298, 171 and 153 power units, with 141, 154 and 152 drivers. An operation of that scale selling several units at once can send one list with each VIN, its location and the name on its title, and we work through them together.
Rail yards, quarries and the West Sacramento terminal
North of town, the North American Rail Network maps Woodland Yard 15.9 miles away and Yolo Port Yard 17.6 miles east. A day cab that shuttles freight to those yards can be collected where it is parked, as long as someone can let us in and hand over the keys.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two sand and gravel operations within reach: the Woodland Plant, 17 miles north, and Cache Creek Quarry, 18.2 miles north-west. Dump trucks and end dumps that load at pits like those should come with their registration and any service records you have kept, plus photos of the bed and the cab.
Eighteen and a half miles east, the Energy Information Administration lists the West Sacramento petroleum product terminal. If your tank truck loads there, include the tank’s inspection paperwork with the title, and tell us whether the truck stays at a terminal lot or at your shop.
Between the Sacramento-Yolo Port and Travis
The Sacramento-Yolo Port lies 13.3 miles east of Dixon on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ list of ports. A tractor that pulls containers or bulk loads from that port does not need to be driven back to Dixon for us; give us the street address where it sits.
Travis Air Force Base is 14.2 miles to the south-west, and the Travis System Annex No 2 is 10 miles in that direction, both per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If you are leaving the area on orders and the truck has to stay behind, name someone local who can meet us with the keys, and we handle the title paperwork with you by phone and email.
Job sites, distributors and Solano ranches
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 place 5,661 jobs in Dixon, with construction holding 517, wholesale trade 489, manufacturing 411, transportation and warehousing 286, and agriculture 105. Dump trucks, flatbeds and box trucks serve each of those trades, and any of them can be sold to us from the job site or the warehouse dock.
Dixon holds 50 construction establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns, each a likely owner of a dump or flatbed. A contractor with a truck parked between jobs should send photos of each side, the cab interior and the VIN plate, along with the title.
Across Solano County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 712 farms, with cattle, sheep and corn leading. A livestock hauler, a grain truck or a feed truck from one of those farms can be picked up at the ranch gate; have the title and registration in the farm’s or owner’s name ready.
Repealed, paused, contested: the clean truck rules from Sacramento
The California Air Resources Board lists its Advanced Clean Fleets drayage, high priority and federal fleet requirements as repealed, and it describes the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as amended and contested. The 2036 rule requiring all medium- and heavy-duty sales to be zero-emission has its enforcement paused under a federal court filing in the Eastern District of California.
None of those rules changes what you need to sell a diesel truck from Dixon to us: the title, a current registration card and a photo ID for the person whose name is on the title. If the truck has an engine label or emissions sticker, include a photo of it with the others.

Name a local contact for the keys and we complete the paperwork with you remotely.
