Two rail yards within East Bakersfield’s reach
Bakersfield Yard lies 0.7 miles south-west of East Bakersfield on the North American Rail Network, the map the Federal Railroad Administration keeps with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A day cab that shuttles trailers to that yard may be parked within sight of the tracks when you sell; give us the street it is on and the name of whoever holds the keys.
Seguro Yard, which the North American Rail Network also lists, is 3.1 miles north-west. If your tractor pulls loads between the two yards, write down which yard it was last dispatched from, then photograph the VIN plate, the door sticker and the odometer so we can match the truck to its title.
Neither yard needs to be visited by you for the sale itself. A truck left near a rail siding off East Bakersfield’s streets can be collected where it stands, provided someone can let our driver through the gate.
Asphalt and fuel terminals along the west side
The Energy Information Administration places the Bakersfield Asphalt Terminal 3 miles north-west of town and a second petroleum product terminal, listed simply as Bakersfield, 4.1 miles west. Tankers and hot-oil haulers that load at those racks belong on the list of trucks we buy; tell us whether the tank trailer is part of the sale or stays with you.
Tricor Refining, a liquid bulk terminal 4.2 miles west in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, completes that cluster. For a tanker that has worked the Tricor gate, keep any tank test certificates and loading-site passes with the title, and list the trailer as its own unit.
Since all three terminals are within about four miles, a tractor based in East Bakersfield may be parked at a terminal lot rather than at home. Say which lot, and whether site rules require an escort, so collection is set up with the terminal staff.
Out east
Edison Sand Pit and the bulk loads from it
Edison Sand Pit, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 11.8 miles east, is the nearest pit to East Bakersfield in federal mine records. Dump trucks, transfer rigs and end-dump tractors from that pit can be sold from the pit yard or from your driveway.
For an aggregate truck, gather the title, the California registration card and any scale tickets you kept from Edison, and photograph the bed, the hoist and the cab. If a pup trailer goes with it, list that trailer’s own VIN and plate.
Kern milk, beef and cotton
Trucks off Kern dairies, feedlots and cotton fields
Kern County held 1,691 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with milk, cattle and cotton as its three leading products. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and module trucks from those farms are all trucks we purchase from owners around East Bakersfield.
A farm truck often sits on the ranch rather than in town. Tell us the road and the nearest gate, and whether the truck is registered to you personally or to the farm, since the name on the title is the name that signs the sale.
If a cattle pot or bulk milk trailer is part of the deal, photograph both the tractor and the trailer separately, and list each one’s plate, because USDA’s farm tally covers the whole county and your truck could be parked anywhere across it.
Local work and paperwork
Jobs in East Bakersfield and the papers to have ready
In 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts placed 346 jobs inside East Bakersfield itself. A truck owned by one of those local employers is titled to the business, so have the person authorised to sign for the company on hand when we collect.
Titles for trucks registered in East Bakersfield come from California’s Department of Motor Vehicles, and a missing title is replaced there with a duplicate. Start that request early if you cannot find the certificate, and keep the registration card and the most recent inspection report with it.
Where CARB’s truck rules sit for an East Bakersfield seller
According to the California Air Resources Board’s rulemaking notice, the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage, high-priority and federal fleet requirements have been repealed. If your drayage tractor works Bakersfield Yard or Seguro Yard, tell us its engine model year and have its registration ready.
A federal court record shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty sales requirement as paused, and CARB’s amendment notice lists the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested. For a Kern County diesel tractor, have the title, registration card and any emissions paperwork together before we collect.
