Sell your semi truck for cash in East Los Angeles the easy and convenient way

East Los Angeles sits a mile or two north-east of the East Yard and Hobart rail yards in Los Angeles County, and the tractors and box trucks parked on its streets mostly haul containers, produce and general freight across the basin.

Rail next door

East Yard, Hobart and the container ramps

The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places East Yard 1.6 miles south-west of East Los Angeles and Hobart Yard 2 miles out in the same direction. A day cab that shuttles boxes between those yards and a customer dock is the kind of tractor we collect from a residential curb as readily as from a terminal lot. Tell us the street address where it sleeps and who holds the key.

Two intermodal ramps appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings close by: East Washington Blvd at 1.8 miles and Hobart at 2 miles, both south-west. If your tractor pulled chassis off either ramp, send the VIN, the registration card and a clear photo of the odometer before anything else, and say whether a chassis is still hooked to it.

Of the 736 active carriers FMCSA’s carrier census lists here, 49 name intermodal containers as cargo. If yours is one of those small drayage operations, have your California title in the name on the registration, and tell us if the two names differ.

Fuel and liquid bulk

Montebello, Vernon and the tank terminals

Petroleum product terminals listed by the Energy Information Administration sit at Montebello, 3.2 miles south-east, and Vernon, 3.5 miles south-west. Tank-pulling tractors from those racks often live in a contractor’s yard rather than at home, so tell us the yard’s name and gate hours and we will arrange the visit with whoever runs it.

South of town, Ventura Transfer Company at 3.5 miles and Titan Terminal and Transport at 5.3 miles are both liquid bulk terminals on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list. Keep any terminal access paperwork or annual inspection reports with the truck; they let us see where it has worked without guessing from photos.

Small fleets, local miles

FMCSA’s carrier census counts 653 intrastate carriers in East Los Angeles against 83 interstate ones, with 102 of them private fleets hauling their own goods. For an intrastate truck, a California title plus current registration covers the paperwork side of the sale.

General freight is the cargo 266 local carriers report, fresh produce 42 and refrigerated food 24, again by FMCSA’s carrier census. For a reefer unit, photograph the unit’s hour meter and data plate alongside the cab and frame so both pieces of equipment are covered in one set of pictures.

Fleets stay small in East Los Angeles: the top three on file with FMCSA run 12, 7 and 6 power units. Across 106 carriers reporting mileage, the median stands at 21,833 miles per truck a year in that same census, and 285 driver records sit within a 100-mile radius against 743 beyond it.

Inspected trucks from 2019 back

Roadside inspection records from FMCSA cover 577 trucks checked here between August 2024 and August 2026; their median model year is 2019, and 24.8 percent were ten or more model years old. Whatever year yours is, note it with the engine make so we can match the right paperwork to the truck.

New registrations keep arriving too: FMCSA’s carrier census shows 23 new carriers in 2025 and 18 in 2024. If you started your authority recently and are now leaving trucking, bring the bill of sale from when you bought the tractor along with the title.

Factories, wholesalers and job sites

Manufacturing accounts for 1,196 of the 17,062 jobs located in East Los Angeles in 2023, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with wholesale trade at 553 and transportation and warehousing at 589. Box trucks and stake beds that serve those plants and warehouses are welcome; tell us the body length and whether a liftgate is fitted.

County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 98 construction establishments and 4 warehousing ones in the area, and LEHD puts construction employment at 506. Dump trucks and flatbeds parked at a job site can be collected there; send the site address and a contact on the ground.

Clean-truck rules and Los Angeles County farms

The California Air Resources Board lists its Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements as repealed, and a federal court filing shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement paused. Whatever the status of those rules when you sell, tell us the truck’s engine model year and send a photo of its emissions label.

USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 766 farms in Los Angeles County, led by potted flowering plants, mushrooms and equine operations. A truck that has hauled nursery stock or feed between those farms and the city sells the same way: title, registration and photos, and we come to the farm gate.

The questions we get asked in East Los Angeles

  • My day cab sits in a lot by Hobart Yard; does it have to come into East Los Angeles first?Leave the day cab in that lot. Hobart Yard is 2 miles south-west of town on the North American Rail Network, and we collect it where it is parked. Send the lot’s address and the name of whoever unlocks it near Hobart.
  • The title for my East Los Angeles truck is missing; where do I get a new one?A replacement comes from California’s state title agency, which handles duplicates for trucks registered here. Start that request before we schedule the pickup, and keep the receipt to show the application is in.
  • My truck hauled fuel out of the Vernon terminal. Anything special to have ready? The Energy Information Administration lists Vernon as a petroleum product terminal 3.5 miles south-west. Keep any tank inspection certificates with the title and registration, and tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale.
