Farm work
Dairy, cattle and cotton loads from East Niles farms
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,691 farms in Kern County, and it names milk, cattle and cotton as the county’s leading products. A tanker that has run milk from dairies, a cattle hauler or a tractor that has pulled cotton modules is exactly the kind of truck to tell us about. Say which of those loads it carried, and send a photo of the trailer coupling along with the cab.
Of the 4,597 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in East Niles for 2023, agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting accounts for 1,736, or 37.8 percent. Farm trucks often sit on a ranch or a field edge rather than at a house. Give us the gate location and the name of whoever holds the key, and we will set the pickup there instead of asking you to move the truck.
Two rail yards just west of East Niles
Driving 3.2 miles west from East Niles brings you to Bakersfield Yard, as mapped in the North American Rail Network from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Seguro Yard sits 5.9 miles to the north-west on that same rail network from the Federal Railroad Administration. If your day cab or sleeper has been parked near either yard between loads, give us the street address or cross streets so collection is planned around the yard’s own access.
For a tractor that has worked around the yards, have the title in your name, the current registration card and any service log ready before you call, and photograph the VIN plate on the door jamb so the numbers match from the first message.
Terminals on the west side of town
The Energy Information Administration lists Bakersfield Asphalt Terminal 5.6 miles north-west of East Niles and a second petroleum product terminal, listed simply as Bakersfield, 7.2 miles west. Tricor Refining, a liquid bulk terminal, appears 7.3 miles west in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. Tank tractors and asphalt trucks that load at those sites are on our list.
When a tanker has served terminals like these, tell us what product it carried and whether the tank is still mounted or the tractor is sold on its own. Any site inspection sheets or tank test certificates you kept belong in the same folder as the title, since they show us where the truck has worked.
Sand and gravel to the east and south
Edison Sand Pit is 8.7 miles east of East Niles in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and the same agency lists Solari Sand and Gravel 24.3 miles to the south. Dump trucks, transfer trucks and belly-dump tractors that run out of pits like these are trucks we buy from owners.
A truck that is parked at a pit rather than in town does not need to come in for us to see it. Send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, along with the pit name and a contact on site, and we arrange collection at the pit gate.
According to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, construction holds 111 of East Niles’s 2023 jobs. If you run a mixer, dump or flatbed from that work, keep the registration current and the plates on the truck so it can be moved legally on the day we collect.
Warehousing and wholesale work in East Niles
Transportation and warehousing employs 356 people in East Niles, 7.7 percent of local jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. The same LEHD counts give wholesale trade 180 jobs and manufacturing 59. Box trucks, reefers and straight trucks from that kind of work are all trucks we will look at, from a single unit to several.
If you are selling more than one truck, list each VIN with its title status in one message. Where a title is missing, the state’s title agency handles the replacement, and starting that request before we collect keeps every truck in the group moving together.
Where the clean truck rules stand
For a Kern County owner, the California Air Resources Board now lists the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet rules as repealed, while its Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation stands contested. A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California shows enforcement of the zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty sales requirement as paused.
None of that changes what we need from a seller in East Niles: the title, the registration and clear photos. If you have engine or emissions paperwork for the truck, add it to the folder, since it answers questions about the truck before they are asked.
