Gravel pits and a quarry along the San Gabriel side
Tell us which pit or plant the truck ran from, and send a photo of the body and the hoist along with the cab.
Azusa Rock, a crushed-stone quarry, sits 8.8 miles east on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. A truck that hauls rock often stays parked near the scale house or a contractor’s yard between jobs, and that spot works fine for collection. Give us the street address, a name for whoever holds the gate key and the hours the yard is open.
Before you call about a gravel or rock hauler, find the title and the current registration and write down the VIN from the door jamb. If the title is in a company name rather than yours, say so at the start and tell us who signs for the owner on record.
Rail yards and intermodal ramps southwest of town
Aurant Yard, a rail yard, lies 6.8 miles south-west and the Metrolink Shops Yard 9.2 miles west, according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttle between yards and nearby warehouses are on our list. Note whether the tractor carries a wet kit or any yard equipment so the photos you send show it.
Two intermodal ramps appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings close by: Lamar St (LATC) in Los Angeles at 10 miles south-west, and East Washington Blvd at 10.8 miles in the same direction. If your sleeper or day cab has pulled containers off either ramp, start with the VIN and an odometer photo; the rest of our questions build from those two.
A drayage tractor that now sits at a terminal lot rather than at your home in East Pasadena can stay there. Tell us which lot, who manages it and whether we need a gate pass, and the pickup gets arranged with them directly.
Product haulers and the Montebello terminal
Nine and four-tenths miles south, the Energy Information Administration places a petroleum product terminal under the name Montebello CA. Tank tractors and straight-truck fuel units that load at a rack like that belong among the trucks we purchase, and so do the tractors without the trailer.
For a fuel hauler, gather the title, registration and whatever tank or hazmat inspection papers you still hold, and take photos of the tractor from all four sides plus the interior. Tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale or stays with you, so we look at the right equipment from the beginning.
Census Bureau LEHD job counts (LODES) put 2,337 jobs in East Pasadena in 2023, with Construction at 67 of them, a 2.9 percent share. Contractor-owned dump trucks, flatbeds and box trucks from that trade are welcome; send the body type and length along with the VIN.
Wholesale Trade held 87 local jobs, or 3.7 percent, in the 2023 LODES figures from the Census Bureau. Delivery box trucks, stake beds and reefer units from distributors can be sold one at a time or as a group. If several units are involved, a short list with each VIN and its location saves a round of calls.
Nurseries, mushrooms and horse operations in the county
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 766 farms in Los Angeles County, and the leading listed products are potted flowering plants, mushrooms and equine. Nursery box trucks, refrigerated units and horse-hauling rigs from operations like those are trucks we take.
Farm trucks are often registered to the operation rather than to a person, and some sit on private land. Tell us whose name the title carries, where on the property the truck is parked and whether a gate or a dirt approach stands between it and the road.
Clean-truck regulations and what they say now
The California Air Resources Board lists its Advanced Clean Fleets drayage, high priority and federal fleet requirements as repealed, while the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation stands contested. A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California covers the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement, whose enforcement is paused.
None of those rules has to be settled before you sell a truck parked in East Pasadena. Have the title, the registration and the VIN ready, and if you have questions about a rule, the board’s own rulemaking notices are the place to read the current text.
