The waterfront below
Richmond’s port and the Point Potrero terminal
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the port of Richmond 2.6 miles west of East Richmond Heights, close enough that a truck parked at a waterfront lot is a short drive from the hill. If yours is sitting near the docks, give us the street address and the name of whoever controls the gate, and we will arrange collection where it stands.
Point Potrero Marine Terminal, listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a roll-on/roll-off terminal 3.8 miles to the south-west, handles cargo that drives on and off ships. A car hauler or yard tractor that has worked the Point Potrero lanes is one we would like to hear about; send the VIN, the odometer reading and photos of the cab, the deck and the tires.
Further south, Oakland appears on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of strategic seaports, 8.6 miles from the neighbourhood. A day cab that splits its weeks between Oakland’s container docks and Richmond can be picked up at either end, so tell us which yard it returns to at night.
Tank loading below the hill
Two petroleum terminals named Richmond
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals under the name Richmond, one 3.2 miles south-west of East Richmond Heights and one 3.3 miles west. Tank wagons and tractors that load at racks like these are trucks we buy, and any tank inspection certificates you hold should travel with the sale.
Hazmat endorsements belong to the driver, but the paperwork that belongs to the truck is what we need from a fuel hauler leaving the Richmond racks: the title, current registration and the service file. If the tanker is still parked inside a terminal fence, tell us who signs visitors in so the pickup can be booked with the site.
Hillside rail sidings
Tractors on the Meeker Ave and Chevron sidings
On the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Meeker Ave Yard lies 2.7 miles south-west of the hillside and Chevron Yard 3.4 miles west. Drayage tractors shuttling loads between those sidings and nearby docks are part of what we purchase.
A tractor that spends its shifts between the Meeker Avenue and Chevron rail yards may have no fixed home lot, so pick the spot where it will be when you are ready to sell and send us that address. Photos of the fifth wheel and frame rails, taken where the truck is parked, help us confirm what we are coming to collect.
Quarry and ranchland
San Rafael quarry and Contra Costa farms
San Rafael Rock Quarry, a crushed-stone operation in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s records, lies 8.1 miles west across the bay. Dump trucks and transfer rigs hauling aggregate from a quarry like that one are trucks we take, and their maintenance logs belong in the folder you hand over.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 405 farms in Contra Costa County, with cattle, flower seeds and bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers at the top of the county’s list. A livestock hauler or a farm straight truck kept on a ranch in the county can be collected from the property; tell us how to reach the barn or the gate it sits behind.
Clean truck rules as CARB and the courts list them
The California Air Resources Board lists its Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high priority fleet requirements as repealed, and a federal court filing records enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement as paused. If you run a port tractor out of the Richmond docks, those are the statuses on record today, and the sale itself goes ahead on the title and registration you already hold.
CARB also lists its Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested, with amendments approved by the board. Whatever model year your truck is, keep its emissions label photo and any CARB compliance records with the title, since those are the documents a California sale asks for.
Driveways on the hill
Selling from the hillside itself
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 204 jobs inside East Richmond Heights in 2023, a residential hillside rather than a work site. Many trucks owned here are parked on a home driveway or a side street between runs, and that is a fine place for us to meet them.
Before collection, gather the California title in your name, the registration card and the keys, and clear any lien with the lender if there is one. A lost title is replaced through the state’s title agency; start that request early so it is in hand when the truck is ready to go.
The questions we get asked in East Richmond Heights
- Can you collect my tractor at Point Potrero, or must it come up to East Richmond Heights first?Point Potrero Marine Terminal is 3.8 miles south-west of the neighbourhood on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing, and we collect the truck at the terminal lot itself. Send the address and the name of the person who opens the gate.
- Are tank wagons loading at the two Richmond fuel terminals on your list? The two Richmond petroleum product terminals the Energy Information Administration lists, 3.2 and 3.3 miles away, are served by exactly the tank trucks we purchase. Have the title, registration and tank test records ready.
- Will you collect a farm truck from a ranch elsewhere in Contra Costa County?Contra Costa County has 405 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and a truck kept on any of them can be picked up where it is parked. Give us directions to the gate or barn.
