Carriers based around Goleta’s east side
Of the 88 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census here, 84 operate intrastate, 4 cross state lines and 30 run private fleets that carry their own goods. If your truck served a private fleet, the registration may sit in the business name rather than yours, so check who is on the title before you call us.
General freight is the cargo listed most often, by 21 carriers in the FMCSA census, with household goods named by 4, liquids and gases by 3 and logs, poles, beams and lumber by 3. Tell us which of those your truck hauled and what body or trailer it pulled, and send photos of the cab, frame and any tank or box so the description and the pictures line up.
Here, 199 drivers stay inside a 100-mile radius and 147 range past it, by FMCSA’s carrier census. A truck that worked short local routes is usually parked at a yard or home in the valley; one that ran long may still be out on the road, so tell us where it will be on the day you want it collected.
Fleet sizes and miles on valley trucks
Three of the fleets on the FMCSA register run 60, 58 and 20 power units, with 55, 66 and 40 drivers respectively. Selling several units from a fleet that size is one conversation with us: list each VIN, its location and whose name is on each title, and we plan the pickups together.
Sixteen valley carriers give FMCSA annual mileage, and their median is 15,575 miles per truck. Give us the odometer reading along with the VIN; any service log you kept for local work belongs with the truck too.
Between October 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records cover 70 trucks from carriers based here, with a median model year of 2019.5. FMCSA’s inspection record also puts 32.9 percent of those trucks at ten or more model years old.
Whatever year your truck is, the first things we ask for are the VIN, the model year printed on the registration and a clear photo of the door-jamb sticker. If you kept the roadside inspection reports from those stops, include them with the truck’s paperwork.
Ellwood Pit, Bee Rock and the Solvang gravel plant
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Ellwood Pit, an industrial-mineral mine, 6.3 miles west of Eastern Goleta Valley, and Bee Rock Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, 13.3 miles north-west. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that haul from sites like these can be collected from the yard where they are parked; give us the address and the name of whoever can let us in.
Farther out, 23.4 miles to the west, the Solvang Plant appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as a sand and gravel operation. A truck kept out near Solvang is collected where it sits; tell us the address and a contact who can meet us.
Construction, wholesale and farm jobs nearby
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 9,312 jobs in the area, with 575 in construction, 423 in wholesale trade, 405 in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting, and 130 in manufacturing. Building firms number 105 in this area on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Flatbeds, dump trucks and box trucks that served building sites or wholesale routes are trucks we buy; have the title and current registration ready when you reach us.
Santa Barbara County had 1,359 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cut flowers and greens, potted flowering plants and transplants topped its crop list. Reefer units and straight trucks that carried nursery stock between growers fit what we purchase; photograph the body and refrigeration unit as well as the cab.
Clean-truck rulings
CARB rule status and the papers a Goleta-side seller brings
Three statuses from the California Air Resources Board and the courts apply to Eastern Goleta Valley trucks: the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements are repealed, and enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused. Any CARB reporting or compliance records you kept for the truck belong in the same folder as its certificate, ready to hand over with the keys.
A truck registered on Goleta’s east side whose certificate has gone missing gets a replacement through California’s state title agency, before or during the sale. Mention up front if it is lost or still names a lender, and we will tell you which documents to have on the day.
