Sand and gravel pits a few miles from Fillmore
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Grimes Rock, a CalPortland Company sand and gravel operation, 4.5 miles south of Fillmore, and 4.6 miles to the south-east the same federal agency records Wayne J. Sand & Gravel. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that hauls out of either pit can stay parked at the yard it works from; send us that address and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
Further out, Canyon Rock Plant, an industrial-mineral mine, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records 12.3 miles east, and Pacific Rock, a crushed-stone quarry, 15.1 miles south-west. For an aggregate truck based near one of those sites, photograph the bed, the hoist and the cab, and have the registration card and title in the same folder before you call.
Produce, lumber and general freight haulers on file in Fillmore
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 168 active carriers here; 59 of them list general freight, 25 fresh produce, 9 farm supplies and 8 logs, poles, beams or lumber. Reefer tractors, flatbeds and stake-bed farm trucks all fit those cargo lines, and we buy each of them.
That FMCSA census shows 146 of them working only inside California, 19 operating interstate, and 33 registered as private fleets. If your truck belongs to a grower or packer rather than a for-hire outfit, the title may sit in the business name, so check whose name is on it and bring a signer from that business.
Five new carriers registered in 2025 and six in 2024 under FMCSA’s census. FMCSA’s census also shows the three biggest operations here holding 81, 16 and 10 power units. A fleet owner selling several units at once can send one list of VINs and plate numbers, and we work through the whole group together.

Farm work across Ventura County
Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting account for 543 of the 2,801 jobs located in Fillmore, or 19.4 percent, according to the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts. The same LEHD count puts 146 jobs in transportation and warehousing and 125 in construction.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 1,812 farms in Ventura County, and its top products are potted flowering plants, cut flowers and cultivated greens, and propagative material. A box truck or reefer that carried nursery stock between growers and shippers is a truck we collect, at the nursery or the packing shed where it is kept.
If the truck was registered to the farm and the title has gone missing, ask California’s title agency for a duplicate before the sale, and keep the farm’s paperwork with it so the name on the registration matches the seller.
Model year 2017 at the median, per Fillmore inspection stops
Roadside inspections of 87 Fillmore-based trucks between December 2024 and August 2026 put the median model year at 2017, per FMCSA roadside inspection records, and 43.7 percent of those trucks were ten or more model years old. We buy across that whole span of model years.
Among 30 carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 16,479 miles per truck per year. Note the current odometer reading and the VIN when you first contact us; those two answers settle most of what we need to ask.
Oxnard yards, the harbor and the roads between
The North American Rail Network, maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places Oxnard Yard 20 miles south-west of Fillmore and Industrial Plaza Yard 20.3 miles out. A day cab that shuttles loads to those rail sidings can be collected from a lot in Oxnard as easily as from a driveway in town.
Oxnard Harbor District is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a port 21.9 miles south-west, near Channel Islands ANG Station at 21.1 miles. Should your tractor be parked near the harbor, give us the lot address and a contact on site who can let us in.
Of the 14 bridges the National Bridge Inventory records in Fillmore, none is load-posted and none has a clearance under 14 feet, so a tall or heavy truck can be routed straight out of town without a detour.
CARB’s fleet and truck sales rules as listed now
The California Air Resources Board lists its Advanced Clean Fleets drayage, high priority and federal fleet requirements as repealed. Its Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, and a federal court filing shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement paused.
None of those rule changes alters what we collect in Ventura County. Keep the title, the registration and whatever emissions or service records exist for the truck together for the Fillmore pickup.
The questions we get asked in Fillmore
- My end-dump sits at the Grimes Rock yard south of Fillmore; should I haul it home before you come?Grimes Rock sits 4.5 miles south of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from pit yards like it. Name the pit, the gate it stands behind and the person holding that key.
- The reefer I run for our Ventura County farm carries the farm’s name on its title; who signs?Fresh produce is the cargo for 25 Fillmore carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and many of those trucks are titled to the business. Someone authorised to sign for that business signs the title, and the sale goes ahead in the farm’s name.
- My tractor stays on a lot near Oxnard Harbor; is a trip up to Fillmore first required?Oxnard Harbor District is 21.9 miles south-west of Fillmore in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, and we pick up there or anywhere along the way. Send the address where the truck is parked.
