Huron’s small trucking outfits, by the federal count
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 53 active motor carriers based in Huron, a town of 6,519. The three biggest Huron fleets in FMCSA’s carrier census run 4, 3 and 3 power units, so the truck you sell may be parked at a house or a shop lot rather than a terminal. Give us that street address when you first reach us and we arrange collection there.
Of those 53 Huron outfits, the federal census counts 45 that operate only inside California, 8 that cross state lines and 10 that run private fleets hauling their own goods. An intrastate tractor should still carry its current California registration card in the cab; have it and the title together before pickup is booked.
New registrations keep arriving slowly in Huron, with FMCSA listing 4 new carriers in 2024 and 2 in 2025. If you started up recently and are now selling, a title still held by a lender is fine; tell us the lender’s name so the payoff letter can be requested alongside the paperwork.
Produce boxes, farm inputs and steel coils
General freight is the most common cargo line, listed by 31 Huron carriers in FMCSA’s census, while 10 list fresh produce. A reefer tractor or a dry-van unit that has been pulling west-side crops is exactly what we buy; photograph the cab, the sleeper or day-cab interior, and the VIN plate on the door jamb.
Six local carriers declare farm supplies and another six declare metal sheets, coils and rolls, according to the same federal registry. Flatbed tractors and coil haulers belong on our list too. Send a picture of the deck, the chains and binders if they go with the truck, and say whether the trailer is part of the sale.
Fresno County had 4,427 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, milk and cotton as its leading products. If your truck has spent seasons moving feed, cotton modules or dairy supplies between those operations, mention which ones; it helps us picture where the truck sits and how to reach it on a ranch road.
A naval air station one way, a gravel pit the other
NAS Lemoore lies about 12 miles north-east of Huron on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ list of military installations. If your truck is parked on that side of town toward Lemoore, give us a gate code or a contact who can let the driver in, and we schedule around their hours.
To the west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records the Coalinga Pit sand and gravel operation 14.9 miles from Huron. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that have hauled aggregate from it are welcome; tell us the body type and bed length so the right equipment is sent.
Huron held 281 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, a small-town workforce set among Fresno County farmland. If your truck sits at your home between loads, that is where we pick it up; a clear path to it and the keys on hand are all our driver needs.
West-side Fresno County rigs and their 2018 median
Twenty-five Huron-based trucks were pulled in for checks from October 2024 to August 2026, and FMCSA roadside inspection records give them a median model year of 2018. Four in ten of those trucks were ten or more model years old in the same records. Either way, the year printed on your title and registration is what we need to see first.
A dozen Huron outfits reported annual mileage to FMCSA, and the middle figure among them came to 45,000 miles per truck. Read the odometer and photograph it when you send the VIN; those two figures, plus the engine make, answer most of our first questions.
Title and CARB
A duplicate title, and where the CARB fleet rulings stand
A Huron owner who has lost the title applies to California’s title agency for a duplicate. Start that application before you contact us, and send a photo of the receipt so we can plan around it.
The California Air Resources Board’s rulemaking record shows the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage, high-priority and federal fleet requirements as repealed, while the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation is listed as contested. Keep your emissions paperwork with the title so it travels with the truck when it leaves Huron.
The questions we get asked in Huron
- My tractor is parked out near the Coalinga Pit. Must a Coalinga Pit truck be driven over to Huron before you collect? The Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Coalinga Pit 14.9 miles west of Huron, and we collect the truck where it stands. Tell us the yard owner’s name so the pickup is cleared with them.
- I haul produce on intrastate authority only. Do you take my truck?Ten Huron carriers list fresh produce and 45 run intrastate only in FMCSA’s census, so trucks like yours are common here and we buy them. Have the title and current California registration together.
- My truck is ten years old or more. Will you take a truck that old off my Huron lot?Huron’s inspected trucks had a median model year of 2018 in FMCSA roadside inspection records, with 40 percent ten or more years old, and we buy across that whole range. A VIN and a photo of the odometer get your Huron sale started.
