Byron’s sand and gravel pits, seven miles down the road
Seven miles south of Knightsen, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the G3 Enterprises Byron Plant, a sand and gravel operation, with Kellog Creek Aggregates Inc a short way past it at 7.2 miles. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has shuttled loads out of those pits can be sold from wherever it last parked, whether that is a yard near Byron or a driveway in town.
If your truck worked the Byron pits, send us photos of the cab, the bed or trailer, the frame and the tires, along with the VIN. Note which of the two operations it hauled for, so our questions start from the work it actually did rather than from guesses.
Quarries, a marine mine and an asphalt terminal to the west
Head west and the Mine Safety and Health Administration records two crushed-stone quarries near Clayton: the Clayton Plant at 16.2 miles and Clayton Aggregates at 16.9 miles. The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists Lind Marine Incorporated, an industrial-mineral mine, 14.1 miles north-west of town.
At 15.5 miles west, the Energy Information Administration lists Pittsburgh Asphalt as a petroleum product terminal. Tankers and dump trucks that run between that terminal and the Clayton quarries are trucks we buy; tell us the street address where yours is kept and who can let us onto the lot.
Du Point and Pittsburg
Du Point Yard and Pittsburg Yard
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places Du Point Yard 5.9 miles north-west of Knightsen and Pittsburg Yard 14.2 miles to the west. A day cab or straight truck that has moved freight to and from either yard can stay where it sits until collection.
Have the registration card and the title together before you contact us, and give the yard or address where the truck is parked. If it sits inside a fenced rail-side lot, name the person who holds the gate key so pickup can be arranged with them.
Ten small outfits
Knightsen’s ten in-state carriers
Ten active carriers are registered in Knightsen according to FMCSA’s carrier census, and every one of the ten operates intrastate only, with two of them running private fleets. The biggest of those outfits fields four power units with two drivers, and the next two run a single power unit each.
By cargo type, the same federal carrier census shows two carriers hauling general freight, one hauling farm supplies, one hauling livestock and one moving mobile homes. Whether you own one tractor or four, tell us the cargo it was set up for, since a livestock trailer and a mobile-home toter call for different photos.
Most local jobs are in construction
Knightsen’s workplaces counted 291 jobs in 2023, and the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place 156 of them, or 53.6 percent, with builders and contractors. Beside that, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns lists four construction establishments, and a builder’s dump truck or flatbed from one of those outfits is a truck we buy.
Contractors here tend to keep dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies close to the job site. If yours is parked at a build rather than at home, give us the site address and the name of whoever runs that site, and keep any service records with the truck for us to see.
Farm country around the Delta
Around Knightsen, farms across Contra Costa County number 405 in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle at the top of the list ahead of flower seeds and bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers. Cattle haulers and stake-bed trucks that serve those operations are part of what we purchase.
A farm truck is often parked out by a barn or field gate rather than on a street. Describe the access road, say whether a tow vehicle can reach it, and send the title and registration details so collection can be planned around the property.
Pittsburg DMV
Pittsburg’s field office on Buchanan Road
A missing certificate of title is handled by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, through its DMV field offices. According to the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, the nearest one to Knightsen is the Pittsburg field office at 1399 Buchanan Road, Pittsburg, 94565, about 12.5 miles from town.
Start the replacement before you list the truck with us, and tell us if a lender still appears on the certificate. On the state’s clean-truck rules, the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested and the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation - Drayage Fleet Requirements and High Priority and Federal Fleets Requirements have been repealed. Enforcement is paused for the state’s zero-emission sales requirement for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, according to a federal court filing.

A one-truck, in-state owner is a seller we work with; send the VIN and photos to begin.
