Container ramps just south-east of La Puente
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Los Angeles - City of Industry intermodal ramp about 2 miles south-east of La Puente. If your day cab has been pulling chassis off that ramp, photograph the fifth wheel, the cab and the VIN plate, and tell us whether the tractor is parked at a yard or at your home.
COI Intermodal Terminal Yard lies 1.9 miles south-east, and Rowland Yard sits 2.8 miles out in the same direction, according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor left inside a rail-side lot can be collected there; give us the gate contact and the hours that lot is open.
Container work is common enough here that 107 La Puente carriers name intermodal boxes as a cargo they haul, by FMCSA’s carrier census. If yours is one of them, have the title and current registration in the same name before we arrange pickup, so the paperwork matches the truck on the day.
General freight and private fleets on the valley floor
There are 1,423 active carriers in La Puente on FMCSA’s carrier census, and 676 of them list general freight. Box trucks, day cabs and sleepers from that work all fit what we purchase; send the year, make, model and VIN first and we will ask for the rest from there.
Of those carriers, 1,125 run intrastate only and 296 cross state lines, with 182 registered as private fleets, per the same FMCSA census. A private fleet that moves its own goods can sell one unit or several; list each truck with its VIN and where each one is parked.
New registrations appear in FMCSA’s census too: 65 carriers started in La Puente in 2025 and 61 in 2024. If you started up recently and are winding a single truck down, a clean title in your name and the registration card are the two papers to find first.
Short valley runs and long-haul trips
Driver counts filed with FMCSA show 1,124 drivers here working within 100 miles and 1,323 going beyond that radius. A truck that runs regional loads may be parked out of town when you call us, so tell us the city where it sits today and we will plan the collection there.
For the 344 local carriers giving FMCSA a mileage figure, a typical truck logs 41,494 miles a year at the median. Note the current odometer reading in your first message along with clear photos of the dash; it is one of the first questions we ask about any tractor.
At the top end, La Puente’s three heaviest fleets register 102, 69 and 65 power units with FMCSA. Larger operators selling more than one unit can send a simple list of VINs, years and parking addresses, and we will work through it truck by truck.
Aggregate sites
Gravel pits north toward Irwindale and Azusa
Two sand and gravel pits sit within six miles: the Durbin Plant 4.6 miles north-west and Irwindale Aggregates 5.6 miles north, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration rolls. Dump trucks and transfer rigs parked at either site can be picked up on location once the operator agrees to let us in.
Azusa Rock, a crushed-stone quarry, is 8.7 miles north according to MSHA records. If your truck hauled rock out of that pit, keep any service records and site inspection sheets with the title, since they tell us what the truck has been doing.
Construction accounts for 286 of the 6,030 jobs located in La Puente in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and County Business Patterns lists 86 construction establishments. Contractors selling a dump truck or a flatbed can send photos of the body and the chassis together.
Bulk liquid and fuel terminals to the west
Savage Service Corp, a liquid bulk terminal, is 7.9 miles south-west of town on Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. A tank tractor that served it should come with its title, registration and any tank inspection papers you still hold.
Out west, the Energy Information Administration places the Montebello petroleum product terminal 9.8 miles from La Puente. If your fuel truck is parked near Montebello, give us that address rather than your home address, and we will collect it there.
Inspectors stopped 402 La Puente-based trucks from August 2024 to August 2026, and their FMCSA roadside inspection records place the middle model year at 2019. Whatever year your truck is, the model year printed on the title is the one we go by, so check it before you call.
Just under a quarter of that group, 24.1 percent in FMCSA roadside inspection records, carried a model year a decade or more back. Add a recent roadside inspection report to the photos you send, alongside the registration.
Reefer and produce haulers in town
On FMCSA’s census, 62 La Puente carriers list fresh produce and 60 list refrigerated food. If you are selling a reefer tractor or a refrigerated box truck, tell us whether the trailer or body unit goes with it.
Los Angeles County holds 766 farms led by potted flowering plants, mushrooms and horses, as tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A truck that hauled nursery stock or farm loads is collected wherever it is parked, whether at a farm or a yard.
