Stone on the hillside
Rock hauling from two peninsula pits
Langley Hill Quarry, a crushed-stone operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists about 5.2 miles south-west of Ladera, is the closest aggregate pit to town. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that hauls rock out of there is the kind of equipment we collect from a driveway in Ladera or from the quarry gate itself; tell us which spot suits you.
Stevens Creek Quarry is the second crushed-stone site on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s roster, roughly 9.5 miles to the south-east. If your truck splits its days between the two pits, photograph the bed, the hoist and the cab, and keep the registration card in the glove box so the VIN on paper matches the VIN on the door.
North toward the bay
Redwood City yard, port and the Newark line
Five and a half miles north, the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the REDWOOD CITY YARD, with the port at Redwood City listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics 8.1 miles out in the same direction. Day cabs that shuttle loads between the waterfront and the yard can be picked up where they are parked, whether that is a lot near the port or your own street in Ladera.
To the north-east, the North American Rail Network shows NEWARK YARD about 12.9 miles from town. For a tractor that works that yard, have the title, the current registration and any service invoices together before you contact us, and send a photo of the odometer with the first message.
Valley tank routes
San Jose terminals and the Mountain View installation
East across the valley, SAN JOSE (15.8 miles) and SHELL SAN JOSE TERMINAL (15.9 miles) are the two fuel terminals the Energy Information Administration names for a Ladera tanker driver. A tank truck or fuel tractor based at either one is something we buy, and collection can be arranged at the terminal or at your home.
Closer in, NAVPMOSSP Mtn View is a military installation the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records 9.4 miles east. Service trucks and box trucks that support sites like that often carry equipment bolted to the frame; tell us what stays on the truck and what you plan to remove, so the photos show the truck as it will be handed over.
Potted flowers and mushrooms on the peninsula
Ladera’s neighbouring growers show up in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, which counts 250 farms in San Mateo County, led by potted flowering plants, mushrooms and foliage plants. Refrigerated box trucks and stake-bed haulers move that greenhouse stock, and we take those trucks with the reefer unit or the body left in place.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES) put agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting at 52 of the 422 jobs located in Ladera in 2023, a 12.3 percent share. If your truck delivers nursery stock from here, a short note on the body type and the reefer hours helps us line up the right questions before anyone comes out.
A Redwood City counter for hillside truck owners
California titles go through the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, and its Redwood City field office at 300 Brewster Avenue, Redwood City, 94063 sits about 6.6 miles from Ladera. If the title is lost or still lists a lender, that DMV field office is where a duplicate or a lien release is handled.
Bring the registration, your photo identification and any lender letter to Brewster Avenue in one trip. Once the title is in your name and in hand, send us a picture of the front and back, and we can plan the pickup.
Where the zero-emission rules sit for Ladera owners
California’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, and the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation - Drayage Fleet Requirements and High Priority and Federal Fleets Requirements has been repealed. For a Ladera owner, the practical step is the same: list the engine model year on the title paperwork you send us.
The state’s zero-emission sales requirement for medium- and heavy-duty trucks is also in place on paper, though enforcement is on hold under a federal court order. Ladera sellers do not need to resolve any of these rules before we collect a truck; we take diesel tractors, dump trucks and box trucks as registered today.
The questions we get asked in Ladera
- Can a quarry dump truck be collected at Langley Hill instead of at home?Langley Hill Quarry is 5.2 miles south-west of Ladera on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we can collect there or at your home, wherever the site allows access.
- If my rig’s pink slip went missing, which Redwood City counter fixes that? The State of California Department of Motor Vehicles field office at 300 Brewster Avenue in Redwood City, 6.6 miles away, handles duplicate titles and lien releases.
- Do you buy refrigerated trucks used by San Mateo County growers?Growers among the 250 San Mateo County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture raise potted flowers, mushrooms and foliage plants, and we buy the reefer box trucks and stake beds that haul that stock.
