Bear River and Ophir pits
Sand and gravel within three miles
Bear River Materials, a sand and gravel operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, lies 1.8 miles east of Lake of the Pines. If your end dump or transfer truck has hauled out of that pit, it may well be parked near the scale house or at your place on the lake roads; either spot works, so give us the address and a gate contact.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Robinson Gravel Pit, also named for the Ophir Road quarry, 3 miles south-west of the lake. A truck working out of that pit can be photographed where it stands: take the cab, the bed or drum, the frame and the tires, and send the VIN with them.
Quarries further out
Stone, metal and mineral sites around the county line
Cool Cave Quarry, a crushed-stone site, is 9.7 miles south, and the Big Seam metal mine is 13.1 miles east, per Mine Safety and Health Administration records. Rock trucks and lowboys that serve those two are welcome here; tell us which site the truck was based at so we know which road to take to reach it.
To the west the MSHA list carries Capital Rock LLC, an industrial-mineral mine 15.3 miles out, with GMcB Lincoln Pits & Mill 15.9 miles south-west and Parks Bar Quarry 19.3 miles north-west. If your truck sits at one of those yards rather than at home, we collect it there, and a phone number for whoever holds the yard key saves a second trip.
Beale Air Force Base appears 18.8 miles west in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. A truck kept near the base perimeter can be picked up off-post; on-base parking needs whatever access you can arrange, so mention it when you first call.
Lake of the Pines jobs
Construction crews in a small foothill community
Lake of the Pines had 626 jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and 77 of them, 12.3 percent, were in construction. Contractors with a single flatbed or a small dump truck fit this picture, and a one-truck owner sells to us the same way a bigger outfit does: the title in your name and a few clear photos.
Sixty-eight construction establishments are on the books here in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. If your truck is registered to one of those businesses rather than to you personally, have the business name on the title match the person signing, or bring a letter showing who may sign for the company.
Foothill ranches
Cattle, sheep and goats across Nevada County
Nevada County’s 620 farms, tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, list cattle first, then sheep and goats. Stock trucks and ranch flatbeds are collected from the field or barn lot where they sit. Tell us whether the lane in is gravel or dirt, and where a carrier can turn.
A truck shared between a ranch and a family member may carry two names on the title. Both owners named there need to sign, so line up the second signature before pickup day.
Inspected trucks, 2024-2026
What the lake’s roadside inspections show
Across 115 trucks inspected between September 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records show a median model year of 2019 for the trucks based here. Send us the model year printed on your registration card along with the engine make.
Of those 115 trucks, the FMCSA inspection records class 27.8 percent as ten or more model years old. Older or newer, the paperwork is the same: a California title, the current registration, and any service records you have kept in the cab or the shop file.
Title and CARB status
Selling a Nevada County truck: title and state rules
A missing title on a California-registered truck is replaced through the state’s title agency, and the duplicate should be in your hands before we schedule the collection. If a lender is still on the title, have the lien release ready or tell us who holds the loan.
On the state’s clean truck regulations, the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements are listed as repealed, enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused, and the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation remains contested. Keep any compliance filings you made for the truck together with its title.
The questions we get asked in Lake of the Pines
- I keep a stock truck on ranch land in Nevada County. Will a carrier get out to that property?Nevada County has 620 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and many sit off unpaved lanes; we pick up from the property itself. Describe the road surface and where a truck can turn so the carrier comes prepared.
