Thirty-nine carriers, almost all of them local
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 39 active carriers based in Lennox, and 38 of them are registered as intrastate operators with only one crossing state lines. A Lennox truck is therefore usually a California-plated rig that stays inside the state, so have its California registration card and the title in the owner’s name before you call.
Six of those Lennox carriers declare general freight as cargo in the FMCSA census, one declares household goods and one carries passengers. If yours is a box truck from a moving outfit or a small bus, say which when you first contact us, along with the body length and the seating or cargo layout, so photos and questions line up from the start.
The biggest operation on the federal carrier census here runs 2 power units with 2 drivers, and the next two run a single truck each. With fleets of one or two trucks, the seller here is often the driver too; have the VIN plate photographed and the keys on hand when we arrange collection.
Model year 2016 at the Lennox midpoint
Inspectors stopped 63 Lennox-based trucks from September 2024 to August 2026, and FMCSA roadside inspection records show half of them built in 2016 or earlier. That figure tells us roughly which engine generation and emissions equipment to expect, so note the engine make and model on the side of the block in your photos.
Just over 49 percent of those inspected vehicles were ten or more model years old, according to the same FMCSA roadside inspection records. For a tractor of that vintage, the service invoices and any California smog or emissions paperwork you kept belong together in one folder before pickup.
On radius, the FMCSA census records 4 Lennox carriers whose drivers stay within 100 miles and 36 that report driving beyond it. Wherever the truck last ran, give us the street address where it now sits, whether that is a Lennox driveway or a yard elsewhere in Los Angeles County.
Rail yards, fuel terminals and the base
Two rail yards bracket the town’s south side: El Segundo Yard at 2.8 miles south-west and Alcoa Yard at 6 miles south, both on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that shuttles to those yards may be parked near one of them; we collect from there, so just tell us who controls the gate.
Two petroleum product terminals listed by the Energy Information Administration sit close by: one at El Segundo 3.8 miles west and one in Los Angeles 5 miles east. Tank trucks that load at those racks are on our list, and the tank’s inspection certificates and placard history should travel with the title.
Further out, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records Titan Terminal and Transport, a liquid bulk terminal 9.9 miles east, and the Hobart intermodal ramp in Los Angeles 10.8 miles north-east. Container chassis tractors working Hobart can be collected from a drop yard in that direction rather than brought home to Lennox.
Jobs, builders and the county’s farms
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts show 2,062 jobs located in Lennox in 2023, and 285 of them, or 13.8 percent, sat in transportation and warehousing. Straight trucks and vans from that sector are the vehicles we hear about most often from Lennox, so list the body type and lift gate if it has one.
Construction accounted for 62 Lennox jobs, about 3 percent, in that 2023 LEHD release, while County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau counts 25 construction establishments. Dump trucks, stake beds and flatbeds from small contractors fit here; mention any attached equipment, such as a crane or tool boxes, so we know what comes with the truck.
Potted flowering plants, mushrooms and horses lead the 766 Los Angeles County farms that USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records. Nursery box trucks and horse haulers from across the county are ones we take as well, and they can be collected at the farm.
Drayage, zero-emission sales and Lennox diesels
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements have been repealed, according to the board’s 2025 rulemaking notice. A drayage tractor that serves the rail ramps near Lennox can be sold without that rule attached to it.
A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement paused, and the Air Resources Board describes the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested after its amendments. Neither of those stops you selling a diesel truck you already own, and we handle the transfer paperwork with you.
Getting the title in order before collection
California’s title agency issues the certificate we need signed over, and a lost title is replaced through that office before the sale closes. If the title still shows a lender, bring the lien release letter from that lienholder as well.
For a Lennox seller, the checklist is short: the title, the current registration, the keys, and clear photos of all four sides, the cab interior and the odometer. With those ready, collection can be arranged at the address where the truck is parked.
The questions we get asked in Lennox
- Can you pick up a tractor sitting by the El Segundo rail yard instead of at my Lennox address? At 2.8 miles south-west of Lennox on the North American Rail Network, El Segundo Yard is close enough that we collect right there. Send us the yard’s street address plus the name of whoever holds the gate key.
- Will you buy a tank truck that loads at the El Segundo fuel terminal? The Energy Information Administration lists the El Segundo petroleum product terminal 3.8 miles west of Lennox, and tank trucks loading there are on our list. Keep the tank inspection certificates with the title.
- How does a 2016 tractor compare with other trucks registered around Lennox?FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year of 63 inspected Lennox trucks at 2016, so yours sits right at the local middle. Include the 2016 build date from the door sticker when you message us.
- Who replaces a missing California title for a truck kept in Lennox?California’s title agency issues duplicate titles, and Lennox sellers apply through that office before the sale. Tell us when you start, and we can schedule around the replacement.
