Ridge carriers
Small carriers on the Magalia ridge
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 47 active carriers based in Magalia, and 46 of them run intrastate only. If your tractor sits at a home yard on the ridge, give us the street address and say whether a lowboy can turn around there.
Of those, 11 are private fleets hauling their own goods, by the same FMCSA carrier census. If your rig belonged to a business rather than a for-hire carrier, have the company’s name on the title match the person signing, or bring a signed letter showing you can sell it for the business.
Fleets here stay small: the biggest Magalia operator in the FMCSA census runs 15 power units with 8 drivers, and the next two run 2 trucks and 1. An owner-operator selling a single tractor or a two-truck shop letting one go is the usual sale we see on the ridge, and either one starts with the VIN and a set of photos.
Lumber, liquids and general freight
By cargo class, 9 Magalia carriers in FMCSA’s census haul general freight and 5 haul logs, poles, beams and lumber. Log trucks and their trailers are on our list; send photos of the bunks, stakes and any loader mounted on the frame along with the cab.
In FMCSA’s carrier census, 4 local carriers haul liquids or gases and 3 move machinery and large objects. For a tanker, keep the tank’s inspection and test paperwork with the title; for a lowboy or a rollback, note the deck length and the axle setup when you message us.
Among the 5 carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 10,000 miles a truck. Photograph the odometer on the dash; that reading goes on the title transfer.
Table Mountain, Morris Ravine and Pine Creek
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists TRP Table Mountain Plant, a crushed-stone quarry, 15.2 miles south of Magalia, and Morris Ravine Mine, a sand and gravel operation, 17.8 miles south. Dump trucks and transfer rigs that work those sites can be collected at the pit gate if that is where they sit; give us a contact who can let a driver in.
Pine Creek Rock, a sand and gravel operation in MSHA’s records, lies 18.8 miles west, while Pacific Heights Pit is a crushed-stone quarry 24.3 miles south. Sierra Silica Resources, an industrial-mineral mine on the same Mine Safety and Health Administration list, is 23.8 miles south. Wherever the truck is parked, a body serial number and the plate on the hoist help us confirm what is mounted on the chassis.
Barber Yard in Chico, a rail yard on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is 14.1 miles south-west. Oroville Yard sits 23.2 miles south on that same North American Rail Network. A tractor that shuttles between those yards and the ridge can be picked up in either town, so tell us which one is closer to where it is parked.
Down the ridge toward the valley, a Chico petroleum product terminal sits 13.3 miles south-west of Magalia on Energy Information Administration maps. If your fuel truck loads there, photograph the tank’s data plate and the hose reel, and list any placards it still carries so our driver knows what to expect on arrival.
Farm and construction trucks in Butte County
Rice leads Butte County’s farm output, ahead of cattle and corn, across 1,667 farms tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Bankout trucks, cattle haulers and grain trailers from those farms qualify; if the truck has only ever carried farm plates, bring the registration so we can see how it was titled.
Census Bureau County Business Patterns figures show 14 construction establishments in the Magalia area, and LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put local employment at 541 in 2023. Contractors selling a dump, a flatbed or a service body should have the title and the last registration card together before we schedule the collection.
Title and California rules
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements have been repealed, according to CARB’s rulemaking notice. Its Advanced Clean Trucks regulation is listed as contested, and a federal court filing shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement paused, so none of the three stops you from selling a diesel tractor from Magalia today.
If the title has gone missing, California’s Department of Motor Vehicles issues the duplicate, and the lienholder must sign off on any loan still recorded against it. Start that request before you contact us, then send the VIN, a photo of each side and the cab interior, and the address on the ridge where the truck sits.
