Fifty-one carriers on a few square blocks
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 51 active motor carriers with a Midway City address, in a community of 7,999 residents. Most of them are one- or two-truck outfits, so the tractor you are selling is probably parked in a driveway, a side yard or a rented stall nearby rather than in a fleet yard. Give us the street address and tell us whether a tow truck can get to it without moving other vehicles first.
Of those 51, the federal census records 43 as intrastate-only and 7 as authorised for interstate work, with 5 operating as private fleets that haul their own goods. If your authority was intrastate, your truck likely carries a California registration with no apportioned plates, and that single registration card is what we ask to see beside the title.
The three biggest fleets on the FMCSA file here are small: one runs 5 power units with 5 drivers, and two run 2 power units each. When an operator that size retires a unit, it is usually the owner who signs, so have the title in the name that is printed on it and a photo ID that matches.
General freight, car hauling, paper and drinks
General freight is the cargo class most often declared in the federal carrier census for Midway City, checked by 21 carriers. Those are dry vans and box trucks, and the useful things to have ready are the title, the current registration and a few photos of the cab, the VIN plate and the cargo body.
Four local carriers list driveaway and towaway work with FMCSA, another four list paper products, and three list beverages. If yours is a car-carrier rig, a paper hauler with a liftgate box or a beverage bay truck, tell us the body type when you first contact us so the pickup is arranged with the right equipment.
Only eight carriers here reported annual mileage to FMCSA, and their median is 30,000 miles a truck. Read the odometer and note it down along with the VIN; those two numbers are the first thing we will ask you for.
Fuel racks three miles south, rail spurs to the west
The Energy Information Administration places the Huntington Beach Terminal, a petroleum product terminal, about 3 miles south of Midway City, and a second terminal at Orange roughly 8.1 miles north-east. Tank and fuel-delivery trucks that load at those racks can be collected from wherever you park between runs; give us the gate contact if it sits on a terminal lot.
West of town, the North American Rail Network shows the NWS Seal Beach Yard 4.6 miles out, and Fullerton Yard about 8.9 miles north. A truck that shuttled freight to either yard does not need to come back to Midway City to be sold; tell us the yard and the space number and we will meet it there.
Delivering onto the Seal Beach and Los Alamitos installations
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics locates Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach 4.6 miles west and the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base 5 miles north-west. Contractors who deliver onto either installation often keep base access papers with the truck; take those out of the cab before collection, as they stay with you and not with the vehicle.
If your truck is parked inside a controlled area near either base, arrange for us to be met at the gate, or move it to a public street first. Tell us which arrangement you prefer when we set the collection address.
Container ramps twelve miles west on the Long Beach waterfront
About 11.8 miles west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the intermodal ramp at Pier J, with a second ramp at Pier G roughly 11.9 miles out. Day cabs that pull chassis between those piers and Orange County warehouses fit what we buy.
For a port drayage tractor, gather the title, the registration, and any port truck registry or emissions-label records you still hold. California’s Air Resources Board lists its drayage fleet requirements under the Advanced Clean Fleets regulation as repealed, so there is no drayage fleet filing to bring for that rule.
Work in town and farms in the county
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 860 jobs inside Midway City in 2023, and County Business Patterns records 10 construction establishments here. Dump trucks, flatbeds and stake-bed trucks from that construction trade are welcome; photograph the bed and the hydraulics as well as the cab.
Across Orange County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 158 farms, with horses, honey and cut flowers leading the list. A flower delivery box truck or a horse-hauling rig parked out on a county property can be collected where it sits, as long as we know the address and who will be there.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 3 new carriers registering in Midway City during 2025 and 1 in 2024. If you are one of those newer operators and your title still shows a lender, have the lien release or the lender’s contact ready when you call.
The questions we get asked in Midway City
- My truck sits on the Huntington Beach fuel terminal lot; will you collect it from that lot?The Energy Information Administration places that terminal about 3 miles south of Midway City, and we collect from it. Send the terminal gate contact and the bay where the truck is parked.
- I only ran intrastate loads around California, so which papers should I gather?Federal carrier census records show 43 of Midway City’s 51 carriers run intrastate, so this is the usual case here. Bring the California title and the current registration card; apportioned plate records only matter if you held interstate authority.
- Do you buy port drayage tractors from Long Beach?Pier J sits about 11.8 miles west of Midway City on Bureau of Transportation Statistics figures, and drayage day cabs from it are trucks we buy. Have the VIN, the odometer reading and the title ready.
