Acin and Imerys haul
Cut stone and mineral haulers on the Lompoc side
Acin Ranch, a dimension-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 4 miles south of Mission Hills, is the closest mine site to town. A tractor or dump body that has carried cut stone off that ranch may still be parked at the quarry gate rather than in a driveway; tell us which spot it sits in and who holds the key, and we arrange the collection there.
Further down the same road, the Imerys Lompoc Plant appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as an industrial-mineral mine 5.7 miles south. Plant sites usually ask for a named escort before any outside vehicle crosses the yard, so give us the contact at the gatehouse along with the VIN, and keep the title and current registration together in the cab file.
Base road west
Tractors parked beside Vandenberg Space Force Base land
According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Vandenberg Space Force Base lies 6.9 miles west of Mission Hills. If your truck is kept on or beside the installation, check what pass a visitor needs before we set a date, and send photos of the cab, the frame and the tires taken where the truck now stands.
Owners who drove contract loads out toward Vandenberg and have since left the Lompoc valley can sell from wherever they live now. Leave the truck where it is, give us the street address or the gate it sits behind, and sign the title over once we have agreed the details by phone or email.
Pits up the Sisquoc
End dumps from the Sisquoc and Garey Rock pits
Two sand and gravel operations show up in Mine Safety and Health Administration files to the north-east: Sisquoc Aggregates at 15.4 miles and the Garey Rock Plant at 16.2 miles. End dumps, transfer rigs and water trucks that work pits like these are on the list of what we buy, so name the body type and the axle setup when you first get in touch.
Where a gravel truck stays at the pit between shifts, the operator’s yard is where we pick it up. Have any service records you keep in a folder with the title, and write down the hours or odometer reading so it can go into your first message alongside the photos.
Northbound rail sidings
Day cabs between the Santa Maria and Guadalupe rail sidings
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places Santa Maria Yard 17.8 miles north of Mission Hills and Guadalupe Yard (SMV) 19.8 miles to the north-west. Day cabs that shuttle loads between those yards and the valley farms count as the kind of truck we collect.
If your tractor is parked near one of those two rail yards, there is no need to bring it south to Mission Hills first. Share the yard address, say whether a trailer is still hooked to it and tell us whether the registration is current.
Flowers, potted plants and transplants
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,359 farms across Santa Barbara County, with cut flowers and cultivated greens, potted flowering plants and transplants at the top of its crop list. Reefer box trucks and straight trucks that move nursery stock off those growers are trucks we purchase from owners here.
A refrigerated unit carries its own paperwork, so add the reefer make and its hour meter to the photos you send. Keep the title, the registration and any reefer service sheets together in one envelope for the day of collection.
Clearing the title on a truck from Mission Hills
A missing California title is reissued through the state’s title agency; request the duplicate before we set a pickup date. If a lender is still listed on the title, have the lien release letter ready as well.
Plates, the current registration card and the VIN plate photo are the three things we ask for first. Keep any inspection records from quarry, base or rail sites with the truck as well, as a record of where it has worked.
The questions we get asked in Mission Hills
- The dump truck sits at a stone quarry a few miles below Mission Hills; can it stay there?Acin Ranch sits just 4 miles south and the Imerys Lompoc Plant 5.7 miles south, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings, and we collect from either site. Name the person at the quarry who will unlock the yard for our driver.
- Will you take a reefer that hauled potted plants for a Santa Barbara County nursery?Santa Barbara County’s 1,359 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lean toward cut flowers, potted plants and transplants, and the box trucks and reefers that serve them are trucks we buy. Send the VIN, photos and the reefer hours.
- The California title for my Mission Hills tractor is missing; where do I start?California titles are reissued by the state’s title agency, so request a duplicate there before we arrange pickup in Mission Hills, and keep any lien release with it.
