Aurant, East Yard and two container ramps close by
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places Aurant Yard 2.8 miles north-west of Monterey Park and East Yard 3.8 miles to the south-west. A day cab that shuttles boxes between those yards may be parked near them rather than at home; tell us the street and the lot it sits on and we will arrange the collection there.
Two container ramps lie south of town on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list: Commerce at 4 miles and the East Washington Blvd ramp in Los Angeles at 4.1 miles. If your tractor has a port or railroad access card, a clean truck check record or a drayage registration, keep those papers with the title so the history of where it worked travels with it.
Of the motor carriers based in Monterey Park, 67 list intermodal containers as cargo on FMCSA’s carrier census. For a container hauler, gather the VIN, a current registration card and a few clear photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel before you get in touch.
Tank work from Montebello to Vernon
Three miles south, the Energy Information Administration records the Montebello petroleum product terminal, and it lists a second at Vernon, 5.8 miles to the south-west. Tractors that pull fuel tankers out of those racks are welcome here; bring the hazmat placard history and any tank or annual inspection sheets you kept.
Ventura Transfer Company, a liquid bulk terminal 4.7 miles south, and Titan Terminal and Transport, 7.1 miles south-west, both appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics terminal listings. If the truck is still parked inside one of those gates, give us the name of the person who can let a driver in, and the pickup gets booked around their hours.
Carriers, cargo and routes
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 606 active carriers in Monterey Park, with 368 hauling general freight, 27 fresh produce and 21 refrigerated food. A reefer tractor or a box truck from a produce route is something we buy outright; note the reefer unit’s make and hour meter reading alongside the odometer when you describe it.
Intrastate operators number 356 against 246 interstate ones on the federal carrier census, and 72 of the registrations are private fleets moving their own goods. Whether your authority was California-only or crossed state lines, the title, the registration and your USDOT number are what we need to see.
FMCSA registrations for Monterey Park carriers list 427 drivers working within 100 miles and 717 working beyond it. A truck on a long route may be sitting out of state when you decide to sell, and that is fine: tell us the city it is in and we collect from there.
New authorities keep arriving: FMCSA’s census shows 42 carriers registered here in 2024 and 45 in 2025. Owners selling a truck after a short run under a new authority should have the title in the name on the registration, or the paperwork showing how it moved between names.
Model years seen at the roadside here
Between September 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records logged 385 trucks from Monterey Park carriers, with a median model year of 2020 and 12.7 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, a photo of the VIN plate and the odometer lets us confirm the exact specification.
The largest fleets in town are small by the carrier census: FMCSA lists two at 25 power units and one at 18. If you are selling several units from a fleet that size, send the VINs in one list and we can look at them together and arrange a single collection.
Among 209 carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median is 72,000 miles per truck a year. Have the current odometer figure ready when you contact us, since it is one of the first lines on the description we take.
Work beyond trucking
Wholesale vans, contractor trucks and nursery haulers
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 32,253 jobs in Monterey Park, of which 1,138 are in manufacturing, 926 in wholesale trade and 677 in transportation and warehousing. Straight trucks and box vans from wholesale delivery routes are as much our business as tractors; tell us the body length and whether it has a liftgate.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 68 construction establishments in the city, and the LEHD counts show 336 construction jobs there. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from contractors qualify, and any body or equipment paperwork belongs with the title.
Across Los Angeles County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 766 farms, led by potted flowering plants, mushrooms and equine operations. Nursery and farm trucks from the county are part of what we collect; the farm plate or registration and the title are what to have to hand.
Title, routes and California rules
If the title for your truck is missing, a duplicate is requested from California’s state title agency before the sale, and we can tell you which form to look for when you call. A lien on the title needs the lienholder’s release or payoff letter alongside it.
Inside Monterey Park the National Bridge Inventory records 26 bridges, and a tractor-trailer leaving a driveway here meets no load-posted span and no clearance under 14 feet on that federal list. When you describe where the truck is parked, mention any tight gate or narrow lane so the driver sent to collect it comes with the right equipment.
California’s clean-truck rulemaking records list the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested, enforcement paused on the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement, and the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements as repealed. If you hold any compliance filings for the truck under those rules, keep them with the title.
The questions we get asked in Monterey Park
- My tractor sits in a lot beside the Commerce ramp, so does it have to come up to Monterey Park first? It can stay put: the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Commerce ramp about 4 miles south of Monterey Park, and we collect from the lot where the truck sits. Send the lot address and the name of whoever holds the gate key at Commerce.
- I ran a reefer on produce loads. Do you take refrigerated tractors and trailers? We do, and FMCSA’s carrier census lists 27 Monterey Park carriers hauling fresh produce and 21 hauling refrigerated food, and their trucks are among the ones we buy. Send the reefer unit’s make and hours with the photos.
- My truck loaded at the Montebello fuel racks; which documents help most when I sell it?The Energy Information Administration places the Montebello petroleum product terminal about 3 miles south of town. Gather the title, the registration and any tank or annual inspection reports you kept for the truck.
