Davis Yard, Polk Yard and two fuel racks
The North American Rail Network places Davis Yard 5.2 miles north-east of North Highlands and Polk Yard 10.1 miles south. If your tractor shuttles boxes or loads between either yard and the warehouses around them, it can stay parked at your lot or your home while we arrange collection; send the street address and the name of whoever holds the keys.
Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings near town: Bradshaw, 7.1 miles south, and Sacramento Terminal, 10.4 miles south-west. A tank truck or tractor that loads at either rack sells the same way as any other unit. Have the title in your name, the current registration card and a few clear photos of the cab, the frame and the tank or fifth wheel ready before you call.
Pit trucks south toward Bradshaw and north to Lincoln
Bradshaw and the Perkins Plant, both sand and gravel operations, sit 8.7 miles south of North Highlands according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Dump trucks and transfer rigs that haul out of those pits are trucks we buy. If yours spends the week at a pit gate, tell us which one and whether we need a site escort to reach it.
Further out, the Florin Plant mineral processing site lies 12.4 miles south, and GMcB Lincoln Pits & Mill, an industrial-mineral mine, is 16 miles north, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. A truck that splits its time between the Lincoln side and the Florin side can be collected wherever it ends the day; give us that location rather than your home address if they differ.
What local carriers haul
General freight is listed by 135 of the active carriers in North Highlands on FMCSA’s carrier census, with fresh produce at 26, household goods at 23 and refrigerated food at 22. Box trucks, moving vans and reefer units all fit what we purchase, so describe the body type and the trailer or reefer unit when you first contact us.
Of those carriers, 262 run intrastate only, 64 operate interstate and 81 are private fleets, per the same FMCSA census. For a truck that has stayed inside California, the California registration and title are the papers that matter; for one that crossed state lines, keep any apportioned plate paperwork with the title.
New registrations with FMCSA came to 16 carriers in 2024 and 21 in 2025 for this city. If you started an operation in that window and are now selling its first truck, the title, the registration and your USDOT number are all we need to begin.
North Highlands trucks at the inspection scale
FMCSA roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026 cover 719 trucks tied to North Highlands carriers, with a median model year of 2019 and 24.2% aged ten years or more. Whatever year your truck is, give us the VIN and the odometer reading first; every other question follows from those two.
Driver counts filed with FMCSA show 776 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 878 going beyond it, and 67 carriers report a median of 30,000 miles a truck each year. Local and regional units are both on our list, so tell us whether yours stays near Sacramento or runs longer lanes, and where it sits between trips.
Contractors, dairies and cattle ranches nearby
Construction holds 3,165 of the 17,805 jobs located in North Highlands, or 17.8%, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023; transportation and warehousing holds 723, wholesale trade 692 and manufacturing 557. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau counts 189 construction establishments. Flatbeds, water trucks and dump bodies from contractors here are welcome; have the equipment’s title and any service records together.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 1,118 farms in Sacramento County, with milk, corn and cattle as the top products. A cattle hauler, feed truck or milk tanker parked on a ranch outside town can be collected right there; tell us how to reach the yard and whether a gate needs opening.
Scale
Bigger fleets selling several units
According to FMCSA’s carrier census, the three biggest fleets based in North Highlands run 251, 150 and 96 power units, with 146, 135 and 70 drivers. If you manage a fleet and are retiring several tractors at once, send a list of VINs and where each one is parked, and we will work through them as one sale.
Smaller owners make up most of the 326 active carriers in that same census. One truck or ten, the paperwork is the same: a clear title, the registration and photos taken in daylight.
